The Big Bang Theory fans watching Stuart Failed to Save the Universe you will see large structural holes.
During a special interview with Usthe creators Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn again Bill Prady they revealed that they deliberately introduced storylines that made no sense throughout the first season of the spinoff.
“We were always totally on top of you,” Penn joked. “Every morning we would meet and check this big chart.”
Lorre clarified that they were actually “unaware” of the big picture, adding, “We were in a dark room trying to find an elephant.”
Penn praised Prady for having a “better sense” of how the story flowed. Prady, for his part, noted that only one part of the show was nearly airy.
“I kept track of one thing, which was a loop,” he added. “And it's not 100 percent perfect, but it's close enough.”
When speaking with Us, Penn argued that they want to have pits, saying, “If they don't do that then we haven't done our job.” Prady jumped in to reveal that the actors at the center of the HBO Max show “recognize them on the road”.
Meanwhile, Lorre argued that it shouldn't be what the audience is looking for.
“In the end, if you look at the gaps in the buildings, don't laugh, we failed,” he continued.
According to the official synopsis, Stuart Failed to Save the Universe follows Stuart Bloom as he faces the difficult task of “restoring the truth after breaking the machine built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about an Armageddon of sorts.”
Stuart is “helped on this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet the kinds of characters we know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title suggests, things go wrong.”
Stuart (Kevin Sussman) was initially introduced The Big Bang Theorywhich aired on CBS from 2007 to 2019. “For me, Stuart came back to me very quickly,” Sussman told Us. “Because the original Stuart was sadly not that different from me. So it was very similar.”
