But his latest could break that streak. Bestselling mystery author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead one morning with his throat cut. That means he was killed, right? But the police decided to kill themselves and quickly closed the case. Benoit thinks otherwise, but is confused about who killed Harlan and the motive for the murder.
The list of suspects is long and colorful. Upstairs is Harlan's villainous son-in-law Richard (Don Johnson), but grandson Hugh (Chris Evans), daughter-in-law Joni in despair (Toni Collette) and the good-hearted nurse Marta (Ana de Armas) I could easily do it. Benoit doesn't have much time to solve this case as the killer seems ready to strike again.

They are willing to go to extraordinary lengths to prove their superiority, as Borden seems to be able to teleport himself from one place to another. Angier sets out to discover the secret behind his trick. But the more he finds out about Borden, the worse his life gets until he's driven to do something no magic trick can undo.

But it creates an intoxicating spell that combines magic and 19th-century science in a movie that creates as much suspense as it does magic tricks. A talented cast includes Scarlett Johansson like a love-struck magician's assistant, Michael Caine like an old witch again David Bowie like the real life inventor Nikola Tesla.
