A runner Rome Roth teased what the new arrival means for Maggie and Cal.
“There's never a dull moment in Sullivan's Crossing,” Roth told Collider in July 2025. “A romantic drama series needs to push each other between your characters … we're going to have a very big shoehorn at the end of the season that we'll see play out in season 4.”
Roth said he wanted season 3 to reflect the theme of “second chances,” sharing, “These characters have been through a lot in two seasons. We wanted to give them a chance to explore love. I think that's what we've come to call one of the scriptures.”
Roth concluded: “Because we are dealing with a lot of emotional problems we wanted to have some ease and relief in this season, by giving people a chance to be free and have some hope and hope in their lives.
