Netflix's cowboy hit Ransom Canyon it hasn't been renewed for a third season yet – but will all the characters return?
Based on Jodi Thomas' book series of the same name, Ransom Canyon He introduced us to a city full of drama, romance and hope. The first season began with stoic rancher Staten (Josh Duhamel) grieving two major losses while navigating an undeniable connection to childhood friend Quinn (Minka Kelly), who also caught the eye of Staten's brother-in-law and rival Davis (Eoin Macken).
There was also a new Yancy (Jack Schumacher), who had been hiding from Ellie (Marianly Tejada). And if that wasn't enough, viewers find themselves invested in another love triangle between high school students Lucas (Garrett Wareing), Lauren (Lizzy Greene) and Reid (Andrew Liner).
Season 2 turned the story on a positive note with a child, a sibling love triangle and several shocking breakups. Showrunner April Blair teased us in July 2026 with her idea for season 3 – including many possible characters.
“[There will] definitely [be] new faces,” Blair told us exclusively. “I definitely want to learn more about Lucas and Kit's parents. I feel like we never talked about that.”
Blair wanted to expand Lucas' (Wareing) story, adding, “I really want to bring a new person to the canvas so Lucas has his new experience and new love and a fun person to fix things with.”
Without the Russell family, Blair hoped for more music.
“Maybe we brought another version of the musical element to our story. Season 1, we had Charley Crockett singing Gracie's. And in season 2, we did this big festival blast with Jordan Davis and Thomas Rhett,” he noted. “And what's a different kind of bringing music to our show? Because I think it's really important.”
He continued: “Does it bring someone who is a singer and actor to the show?
Blair revealed that the “possibilities are endless” for season 3.
