Tony Romo Arrested on Allegations of Operating Under the Influence

Former quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in Wisconsin.

Romo, 46, was released around 8 p.m. in Milwaukee on Thursday, July 23, according to an arrest report obtained by us.

The CBS Sports commentator allegedly failed a sobriety test before being jailed. He was booked and released, with a court date set for Sept. 21 — one day after the NFL's Week 2 slide.

Romo, who grew up in Burlington, Wisconsin, had returned to the Badger State to play in the 2026 Wisconsin Amateur Golf Championship, which has become an annual tradition for him.

“It's as tough as you're going to play I think in almost any golf tournament,” Romo told NBC26 Wisconsin in an interview Thursday, hours before his arrest. “You get the best guys, the competition, and then the people who work with the WSGA — they're really special people.”

He added, “This is a real test this week, each area of ​​your game. It will show your weaknesses because you have to use everything.”

Romo is an avid golfer, playing every year in Lake Tahoe's American Century Championship, where he won three times.

His arrest comes a few weeks after he attended the wedding of Travis Kelce again Taylor Swift at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
