Spider-Man: A New Day hits theaters next week, and Marvel is hard at work marketing the new film. After rescuing fans with a surprise trailer for Avengers: Doomsdaystudio just released a new trailer for the latest Spidey movie. While the trailer contains a few bits we've seen in previous trailers, it's also full of big surprises and more than a little nostalgia. Are you ready to watch the trailer and discover all the wonderful secrets hidden inside? Good news, true believer; all you have to do is keep scrolling!
A New Day, Like an Old Day
The first thing you will notice about its new trailer Spider-Man: A New Day how many scenes in the first half are from previous movies. For example, we see shots of both Peter Parker and Spidey appearing Returning home and the time Ned discovers his best friend's secret identity (and takes down that Lego-worthy Death Star; man, that's always painful to watch!). We also get videos Far from Homewhich shows how Peter's relationship with MJ evolves over time. This ends with the images that appear No Way Homewhen Peter says goodbye to his friend and girlfriend before making the whole world forget who he is.
This is more than just a mindless trip down memory lane; it actually stops the lonely, desperate Spider-Man Brand new Day. The trailer reveals that Peter's decision not to reintroduce himself to his friends at the end of the No Way Home it was constant, and that he has dedicated his life to being Spider-Man, 24/7. This sets up a clear arc for the new film: our titular hero will discover the value of more than a masked vigilante once he opens his heart again to those he loves. Good to know that, apart from the fisticuffs, Brand new Day you will have an emotional core.
The Millennium War Is Here
Of course, if you're more into fisticuffs and high-flying skills, don't worry: that's the back end of the final trailer. We see Spider-Man learn from a mysterious, telepathic villain that he's the only one who can stop him because his Spider-Sense somehow protects him from mojo's mind. The telepathic threat is played by Sadie Sink, who many fans think will play Jean Grey. One interesting revelation this time Brand new Day the trailer is that he's the one controlling Scorpion during their big fight rather than the super-armored villain working alone.
We also get to see the much-anticipated battle between Spider-Man and the Hulk, including exciting footage of the Avenger smashing Spider-Man into the side of a skyscraper before kicking him out. We also get what's sure to be a new fan-favorite one-liner: during a transition, Spider-Man gently asks, “Dr. Banner?” To this, the other man replies, “There is no Banner, only the Hulk!” It's a fun moment and a quotable line, but it also reveals something important: Sink's character isn't directly mind-controlling the Hulk. Instead, he appeared to remove the barrier to force a transformation and, possibly, provoke the Hulk to be even angrier than he usually is.
Jean Gray confirmed?
Aside from the previously seen footage of Spider-Man rescuing MJ from an unknown peril, the rest of the trailer is almost entirely pure action. Great action, too, featuring Spidey taking on a small army of ninjas and uppercutting the Hulk. Fortunately, there's some web-head familiarity here, like when he asks the ninjas “can we do this at once.” And, finally, Ned geeks out about the news that Spider-Man is around; just then, the hero enters the room with a jaunty, “Oh yeah? Well, that's crazy!”
Overall, the latest trailer is another winner. Marvel continues to do a great job of advertising Spider-Man: A New Daya film that will seem to combine a lot of action with strong storytelling and more than a few surprises. Will one of those surprises be an unexpected team-up with Jean Gray against the real Big Bad of the movie? There is only one way to find out: Spider-Man: A New Day he will make a big hit in the theater on July 31.
