The Jonas Brothers' Mother Reveals She Recently Suffered a Stroke

Mother of the Jonas Brothers, Denise JonasHe revealed that he recently suffered a stroke.
“This is what you call the basal ganglia [because] it was in the basal ganglia area of my brain, which affected my cognitive thinking, my speech [and] thinking,” Denise, 59, said Us WeeklyAn exclusive look at the “Got It From My Momma” podcast. “Sometimes I had difficulty in my speech.”
The basal ganglia are a group of structures near the center of the brain that make important connections, according to Cleveland Clinic. A stroke occurs when the brain does not receive enough blood, which can prevent the basal ganglia from performing mental functions properly.
Denise is the mother of Kevin, Joe, Nick again Franklin Jonasshared with her husband Kevin Jonas Sr. The Jonas matriarch did not provide any further details about when she suffered the stroke.
“When I'm tired or hungry, I can fumble my words and not think of the right words,” Denise told the podcast host. Jennifer Vickery Smith of his signs. Sometimes I can't remember if it's this or that, and I really don't know.
Before Denise was officially diagnosed, she said she experienced a series of “early symptoms.”
“I didn't notice that,” Denise admitted to Vickery Smith. “I was at home [and] the symptoms I had were that my blood pressure was high. I had been to three different doctors over the course of six months before … and I woke up feeling like my arms were weird. It's bad, but that's the only way I can describe it.”

“You won't hear about it, but when I Googled it, it was the first thing that came up,” Denise said. “When I got up and went to the living room, I found a glass of water near the sink. I tried to find a glass of water to no avail.
Despite Denise's stroke, she tried to stay positive about her life going forward.
“Even though I had this health scare, I always say it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said. “I feel like it was a gift … from the Lord. I don't think a lot of people say that about something but it really gave me peace.”
He went on to say, “[Doing things with my family is] challenge now again. I don't really do things. It's hard now to be up to date and spontaneous. … I'm thankful that I know my body and I understand what things I should and shouldn't do. I know how to say 'no' because I really didn't know what to say [it] before.”
