Spurs bid to sign “England's Ousmane Dembele”

Tottenham Hotspur are already in contention for the Premier League's relegation, but the crunch begins now.

The ENIC Group came agonizingly close to leading Spurs into the wrong tunnel and into the second tier, but Roberto De Zerbi saved them after being selected during the international break in March, making it the club's best result of the season.

Mistakes have been made. There are too many flaws in a club of this stature and strength. One year ago, they celebrated new status as European champions, but a slight change in results over the last few weeks could have thrown the Lilywhites into the Championship.

This will never happen again. Tottenham need to bounce back, not just next year but for many campaigns to come.

Spurs are making their way to world class

De Zerbi has enjoyed himself in charge of Tottenham, but if ENIC fails to oversee a viable summer transfer window, we could be in for more misery in north London.

Much has been made of the expected migration, and the need for top players who can make an immediate impact at the highest level, but Spurs also need to strengthen their young ranks, retaining the ownership that has worked well for them over the years.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have made an offer to sign Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga, who is one of the most talented youngsters in the country.

Arsenal are currently confident of winning the race, but it remains open, with Spurs' rich youth program set to tempt the 16-year-old to a move north of London.

Monga has yet to sign a professional contract and is considering a switch after the Foxes were relegated from League One.

Why Monga is good for Spurs

Tottenham have made something of a habit of developing young and talented prospects over the last decade.

Harry Kane is the mainstay, but Monga could be paired closely with the likes of Dele Alli, who joined the club from League One MK Dons for £5m in 2015 and became one of the Premier League's most impressive players.

Dele Alli Spurs record (unlimited)-1

Monga still has a long way to go before he can reach anywhere near the level at which the England international was performing in those remarkable years in north London, but he already has the weight of expectation behind him, hailed as “England's Ousmane Dembele” by Como scout Ben Mattinson because of his quick feet and lower body, capable of dealing with experienced and mature, strong and powerful opponents.

One of the biggest talents out there, Monga will have the chance to emulate Dele in making the jump from League One (technically) and into the Premier League, with Spurs repeating the old trick of beating their top rivals to sign him.

A disastrous season for Leicester saw them drop to the third tier, but Monga was the shining light throughout. The comparison to Paris Saint-Germain's Dembele is lofty, but there is a ring of truth to it. In 27 Championship games, he averaged a tackle per game.

A goal and two assists isn't anything special at a high rate, but stats like that don't matter, not at this stage. He is improving at the moment, and it means something that he has finished the campaign and caught the attention of the England players.

Tottenham could rewrite the Dele story in their history by signing Monga this summer, allowing him to grow into his Premier League winger and become one of the club's new stars down the line.

More experienced heads will be needed this summer, but Monga represents a unique market opportunity that is too good to pass up.
