Sia Talks 'Incredibly Amazing' $42K Monthly Child Support to Ex

Sia continued, “I have the basic right to raise our son and as a single parent I still have to pay California's incredibly high child support.”

Us Weekly confirmed Monday, April 6, that the “Chandelier” singer has agreed to pay Bernad $42,000 a month to care for their 2-year-old son, Somersault. According to court documents obtained by UsSia, 50, began making monthly payments on April 1 and will continue to pay the five-figure settlement until Somersault turns 18.

Along with child support, Sia will pay for her son's private school fees, agreed-upon extracurricular activities, health insurance and uninsured medical expenses, according to the documents.

Sia and Bernad will legally share joint custody of their son from May, according to doctors, and will split the holidays. Sia will have Somersault on Mother's Day, Easter and Christmas. Bernad will have a toddler on Father's Day and various Jewish holidays, including Yom Kippur, Passover and Hanukkah. Exes will exchange custody on Thanksgiving, Halloween and other holidays.

Later in 2025, Bernad filed court papers asking for more than $250,000 a month in spousal support. According to the documents, Bernad said he has not been working since April 2025, when he “received a letter from the Sia company giving me notice that it will terminate his sponsorship” of their company, Modern Medicine. Bernad said he was living off “monthly payments from Sia” which expired in October 2025.

“I have no income, I have no real estate, I have no retirement money and very little money in my bank account. I cannot maintain this claim without a significant contribution from Sia in terms of my lawyers' fees and the costs of forensic accounting. Sia has the capacity to pay both of our legal fees,” Bernad said in the documents. “I am therefore asking the Court to level the playing field and order Sia to contribute no less than $300,000 in my attorney's fees and costs and $200,000 in my accounting fees and expenses.”
