Russell Brand Struggles to Get a Bible Passage into the Conversation

A newly “born again” Christian Russell Brand he found it difficult to find the “right” part of the Bible to take to court for rape and sexual abuse.

“Can I go back and ask you a question about your Bible?” political commentator Piers Morgan asked Brand, 50, in a Friday, April 24, interview Piers Morgan Uncensored.

“Yes, if you want,” Brand replied after arguing with Morgan, 61.

“Thank you,” Morgan said. “Is he the one who brought him to court?”

“Yes, this one,” replied Brand, referring to the Bible that had been placed in front of him during the conversation.

“What was your opinion about bringing it to court and what – you were seen looking at certain episodes – which episodes were appropriate for you?” Morgan continued.

“Okay, thanks for asking,” Brand replied before fumbling for the Bible. “It was this, from Isiah … This is … This is from Isiah … Excuse me … It says here …”

Brand then found it difficult to find any “correct” part of the Bible. At one point, Morgan looked at the camera as the interviewer continued to watch Brand fumble with his Bible.

“The verse I was looking at that day was …. Not this … actually I can't find the verse I had that day,” concluded Brand. “But this is good enough. This is from Isiah 12.”

Brand, who publicly announced his conversion to Christianity and was baptized in the River Thames in April 2024 is a reality TV personality. Bear Gryllshe was seen holding a bible during a court case in February. The Bible was later confiscated by a court official after the right-wing comedian was seen reading it during the trial.

Brand is facing charges of rape and sexual assault by six women. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which span from 1999 to 2009.

In a recent interview with a former Fox News host Megyn KellyBrand also denied the allegations against him when he admitted that he slept with a 16-year-old when he was 30.

“The obvious truth is that in Europe and the United Kingdom, where I'm from, the age of consent is 16. And I slept with a 16-year-old when I was 30,” Brand said on the Wednesday, April 22, episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. “When I was 30, I was a very different person.

A woman referred to only as “Alice” told The Sunday Times in September 2023 that Brand sexually assaulted her in 2006, when she was 16 and 30.

Alice reportedly reported the behavior to Brand's agent, who advised her to contact the comedian's attorney. Per Alice, Brand's lawyer denied it and took no action.

The product is approved for The Megyn Kelly Show that, while his relationship with a 16-year-old in 2006 was illegal under UK law, it had important moral implications.

“There is a big difference in power, as there is when you are a famous man with the ability to attract women, which I did at the time, I think it involves exploitation,” he said. I think it's exploitation. I realize that my sexual behavior in the past was selfish, and I didn't use enough consideration—I think really—how that sexuality affected other people.”
