President Donald Trump celebrated the arrival of Vice President JD Vance and the wife New Vancethe fourth child.
“Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the beautiful Vance family,” Trump, 80, wrote on Truth Social on Monday, July 20, sharing a photo of JD and Usha's two children with their new siblings.
JD, 41, and Usha, 40, welcomed Ewan, 8, Vivek, 6, and Mirabel, 4, before son Alec was born on Sunday, July 19.
“We are happy to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our children are very happy to meet their little brother,” read the couple's statement on Sunday. “The amazing military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Center have been a blessing. We are so grateful for everything they have done for our family.”
The couple announced Usha's pregnancy in January, but have always been at loggerheads over having a fourth child. JD said the second lady changed her mind after a conservative commentator Charlie Kirk he was shot dead at the age of 31 last year.
“As my wife held Charlie Kirk's widow on the first day of her terrible ordeal, Erika. [Kirk] she told Usha in tears that she regrets having only two children with Charlie,” JD wrote in his new book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, which was released in June.
JD elaborated on how the tragedy affected his family.
“For many years, I asked Usha to have another child, and for years, she told me that she was done, especially since the public service has lifted us to the top of the country,” JD continued in his memoir. “Something changed in Usha, not long after we buried my friend, she became pregnant with our baby boy.
He added: “I don't know why God does things like this, but, I thank him that soon there will be another source of happiness in our lives, another beautiful soul that we can wonder about and love, God's beautiful creation.”

Usha, on the other hand, denied that she stopped the idea of having more children.
“People have asked me if we're going to have a fourth child, and I've never closed the door on that,” she told NBC News in March. “I grew up in a family of two children, and I thought that was a great value.
He continued: “We felt complete with the third child in many ways. We have our daughter, who is amazing, and she was very beautiful, so, I wasn't sure. But later on, I realized that I was very happy with the opportunity. If there was an opportunity, I should take it. I knew that I would be happy if we only had three children, and I knew that we had four children.”
