NASCAR Driver 'Has Been Very Ill'

NASCAR driver Kyle Busch he died after being hospitalized with what his family called “a serious illness.” He was 41 years old.
“We are deeply saddened and saddened to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of the greatest and most ruthless drivers in the sport,” NASCAR said in a statement issued by X on Thursday, May 21. “Our condolences go out to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire sports community.”
The organization released a lengthy statement minutes later on behalf of the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR, saying it would provide more information as it became available.
“Our entire NASCAR family is devastated by the loss of Kyle Busch,” the statement began. “A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare, once-in-a-generation talent. He was aggressive, passionate, incredibly talented and deeply cared about the game and the fans. In a career that spanned more than two decades, Kyle set a record for national series wins, won championships at NASCAR's Driver's Level as the top Trucksck owner of the next generation.
The statement continued, “His sharp wit and competitive spirit sparked a deep emotional connection with race fans of all ages, creating a 'proud and loyal Rowdy Nation.' Our thoughts too Samantha, Braxton again LennixKyle and Samanthahis parents, Kurt and all of Kyle's family, Richard again Judy Childresseveryone at Richard Childress Racing, teammates, friends and fans. NASCAR lost a sports giant today, too soon. “
The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was scheduled to compete in this weekend's Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, North Carolina, but his hospitalization led to his cancellation. Richard Childress Racing, Busch's team, made the announcement Thursday Austin Hill he will take his place in the race.
Busch's family first broke the news of his illness in a statement on X Thursday morning.
They wrote: “Kyle became very ill which resulted in his hospitalization. “He is currently receiving treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled events this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We ask for your understanding and privacy as our family deals with this situation.”
The family did not specify if Busch was being treated.
RCR also released a statement on X asking for prayers and privacy for the Busch family.
“Kyle Busch's health is our top priority and he and his family have the full resources of RCR behind them,” the statement read. “Kyle is an important part of our organization and we wish him a safe and speedy recovery. His No. 8 Chevrolet will be ready and waiting for him. Thanks to Austin Hill for stepping up to drive the No. 8 Chevrolet this weekend. Please keep Kyle and the Busch family in your prayers, and help us respect the family's privacy during this time.”
Busch is survived by his wife Samantha and the couple's son, Brexton, 11, and daughter, Lennix, 4.
Kyle's last Instagram post was a tribute to Braxton, who celebrated her birthday on Monday, May 18.
“Happy Birthday Braxton!!!” he wrote next to the photo carousel. “Your mom and I are so proud of who you are! You're the best kid on and off the track, you amaze us every day. Keep doing what you're doing and there's no limit to what you'll achieve! I love you buddy!”
