A Louisiana woman faces charges of negligent homicide after she drove her young son, who fell out of his car in Baton Rouge, Us Weekly you are educated.
In addition to negligent homicide, Elizabeth Aguilar he was also charged with failure to use the child passenger restraint system.
The police announced the arrest of the suspects this week, but the incident happened on February 20 at around 11:21 am
The police were called to the Murphy gas station, which is where the incident happened.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered that Nicholas Aguilar was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle,” a Baton Rouge police statement read. “When the car turned into the parking lot, the child fell and was hit by the car.”
Police rushed the child to a nearby hospital, where medical staff were unable to save him.
Elizabeth, 22, remains in police custody without bond. Authorities said they are still investigating the incident.
Aguilar does not have an attorney to represent him, and has not yet been asked to enter his pleas.
A similar tragedy happened recently in Texas, which led to the arrest of a 17-year-old mother whose baby was ejected from her car during the crash and died.
The police suspect that Karla Lopez ran a red light, causing a collision in Fort Worth. He was charged with negligent injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury.
The infant has been identified as Sebastian Reyes, who was only 6 months old at the time of the accident.
The crash that happened on March 7 near the intersection of Rock Island Street and Azle Avenue, police confirmed Us.
Officials say Sebastian was seriously injured and paramedics rushed the baby to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel attempted life-saving treatment, although Sebastian could not be saved and eventually died from his injuries.
The baby's mother was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed non-life-threatening injuries.
After treatment, he was formally charged and taken to prison. It is not yet clear whether Lopez has filed a plea or retained legal representation following his arrest.
Fort Worth Police Department said Us they had no additional statements to share at press time. Police have not yet released the condition of the other person involved in the car accident.
