Bachelor Nation alum Madison “Madi” Prewett he opened with emotion some measure of shame for his premarital “sexual sin.”
“I felt so ashamed of my relationship. I felt so ashamed of who I was,” Prewett, 30, said on her “Stay True” episode on Monday, July 20. a podcast. “I felt very ashamed of my intention.”
Prewett is a devout Christian, who was once married and is now a husband Grant Troutt in 2022 Qualifications alum he made the claim on his podcast last year that, despite his promise of virginity, he was “enslaved” to pornography and masturbation for several years growing up.
“It wasn't until I started listening to the belief that, 'No, no, no, no. This is God talking to me that he has so much for me. He's not trying to take me away. He's not trying to tear me apart. He actually wants me to be free,” Prewett, who welcomed her first child in 2025, recalled Monday about her faith. “Like, this isn't healthy. This isn't bringing me closer to my relationship.”
Prewett continued, “Every time I fall into the sin of sex with this person, I don't feel close to them, I actually feel ashamed, I feel distant. [and] I feel like I want to hide.”
The reality TV host said those events left him feeling distant from God and “confused [her] purpose.”
“You have to remember that, 'Okay, that's not the word of my God. My God says, I'm calling you to a holy life because I want you to be free. I'm calling you to a holy life because I care about you. I'm calling you to a holy life because I want a relationship with you. Your body is mine, not that person,” Prewett said. “You have to go back to why [and] I think you have to get to that place.”
Prewett went on to point to a verse from Corinthians that “changed [her] life.”
“It says: 'No temptation has befallen you except that which is common to people, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond your ability, but when you are tempted, He will give you a way out, so that you can endure,'” he said. “That is powerful for me because it tells me that I will never face a situation where I have to sin.”
Prewett added, “We will never have a situation where on the one hand I have to choose sin and on the other I have to choose sin, you will always be given the opportunity to choose holiness.”
Before Prewett returned to his innocence, he felt that he was “not walking fully free” in his faith.
“I always felt like there was a chip on my shoulder like, 'Oh my God, what if someone finds out?' Until I confessed that sin, I asked people to answer me
It, dove into the word of God and chased after holiness with all my heart. … You must resist sin and you must pursue holiness.”
