Lauren Sanchez Turns Heads on the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet

Lauren Sánchez Bezos commanded attention on the red carpet at the 2026 Met Gala.

The former journalist, 56, attended the event on Monday, May 4, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. For the “Costume Art” themed event, Sánchez showed off her figure in a curve-hugging navy blue dress with a plunging neckline and a beautiful train. Lauren and her husband Jeff Bezos are the lead sponsors and honorary seats for the 2026 Met Gala. Before the annual fundraiser, the couple faced problems with their engagement.

Some critics say their sponsorship role represents a shift towards the growing influence of billionaires in cultural institutions or, more specifically, was an attempt by the couple to buy their way into high fashion circles. Some thought that the money could have been allocated to more pressing matters.

In the past, the Met Gala has been sponsored by luxury fashion brands and even major technology companies. Amazon significantly supported the 2012 event, with Jeff, 62 taking on the role of honorary chairman at the time.

“We're so grateful for his incredible generosity,” added Wintour, 76, “so we're thrilled to be a part of the night.”
