Kellie Pickler Returns to American Idol After Husband's Death

Kellie Pickler it is scheduled to be seen in public as a rarity American Idol three years after her husband Kyle Jacobs death.
“Next week, we will see your top five players,” Danielle Fishel said the Wednesday, April 29, episode of the official companion to the TV competition a podcast. “We're going to party like it's 2006 when some of the top ten favorites from this historic season will be back in contention with the top five this season.”
Fishel, 44, revealed that Pickler, 39, will return to the team Idol on stage Monday, May 4, aside Taylor Hicks, Paris Bennett, Elliott Yamin again Bucky Covington. Former OG judges Paula Abdul again Randy Jackson expected to appear in this episode.
Hicks, 49, won Idol season 5 in 2006, with Pickler finishing in sixth place before finding success in the country music industry. She finally took a step into the limelight after her husband, Jacobs, died by suicide in February 2023. He was 49.
“One of the best lessons my husband taught me was in times of trouble, if you don't know what to do, 'don't do anything, just be quiet.' I chose to listen to his advice,” said Pickler August 2023 statement. “I thank my family, friends, and supporters, for the many letters, phone calls, and messages they sent me.”
He continued, “It has really touched my soul and is helping me get through some of the hardest times in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”
Pickler and Jacobs they have been together for a long time since 2008 and tied the knot in 2011. Pickler returned to the stage for the first time since Jacobs' death in April 2024 Patsy Cline tribute concert in Nashville.
“How are we doing tonight, I'd be lying if I said I'm incredibly nervous right now,” he told the crowd at that time. “It was my first time going up on stage for a while.”
Pickler noted that he felt “incredibly honored” to celebrate Cline's legacy.
“She's the biggest reason I love music,” Pickler said before singing “The Woman I Am,” a song written by Jacobs. “My husband and I wrote this song together, man, ten years ago. The last time I was here at the Ryman Auditorium was with him on date night, and I know he's here with us tonight.”
American Idol airs on ABC Mondays at 8 pm ET.
