Judges rule on Taylor Frankie Paul, Dakota Protective Order

The judge made a big decision about Taylor Frankie Paul and ex Dakota MortensenAn ongoing legal battle.
“This has been a very toxic relationship. It's more than pale in many ways, it's toxic,” said the judge during the defense decision hearing on Thursday, April 30, regarding the custody arrangement of the two. “What I have seen in evidence is the posting [the] final hearing, there seems to be an ongoing attraction they have for each other. … You guys should get a lot here. A judge issued orders of protection for both Paul, 31, and Mortensen, 33, and ordered each party to stay 100 feet from each other.
“I hope you are not successful people in sports and art, you should put your child first and protect the child in this fight,” said the judge before speaking in court. “I'm going to leave the current order in place. I need to think a little bit about this removal of supervision. I have mixed feelings about it.”
During the ruling, the judge called Paul and Mortensen's relationship “dysfunctional” and urged them to work on themselves for the sake of their child.
“You are linked together for the rest of your life,” explained the judge. “You're modeling how to deal with conflict for a 2-year-old.”
Regarding previous evidence of Paul and Mortensen's domestic disputes, the judge expressed the belief that “there was mutual violence between these parties.”
“Now the difference, I think, is that with Taylor, her behavior is very active. Dakota knows what to do, to get under her skin, so she reacts,” said the judge. “I think [Dakota is] just to chat. I think in a subtle sense, maybe it's one way of putting it. “
The judge added that she would not rule on the disciplinary aspect of their case, explaining, “If I continue to monitor Taylor's parenting time, I am concerned that Dakota may try to use that as a way to manipulate and control her.”
Paul for a while he lost his arrest of 2-year-old son Ever in early April, stemming from a series of back-and-forth allegations of domestic violence between the former couple. He was allowed eight hours of supervised visitation with Ever each week. (Taylor also shares daughter Indy, 8, and son Ocean, 5, with ex-husband Father Paul.)

He went on to say, “I'm sorry I didn't get out of the difficult cycle sooner. I'm not perfect, and I'm responsible for my part. I'm very sorry to those who hurt me. At the same time, I don't agree with the way this situation has been portrayed publicly. It doesn't show the full context of what happened or the impact it had on me and my son.”
Taylor was previously arrested in February 2023 after a separate domestic violence incident with Mortensen. He pleaded guilty to another count of aggravated assault as part of a plea deal to drop charges related to child abuse. Taylor was then put back on probation.
