Jimmy Kimmel Jokes That Spencer Pratt's Race Was Caught

Jimmy Kimmel used his late night speech to poke holes in the President Donald Trump's theory is that Spencer PrattThe Los Angeles mayoral race is rigged.

“In a way, the Dumb-ocrats stole the votes, but only a fraction voted for the mayor,” Kimmel, 58, joked. Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday, June 10.

Kimmel mocked the conspiracy theory of Trump, 79, during an Oval Office press conference to explain why Pratt, 42, failed to advance in the June 2 primary. On Monday, June 8, it was decided that LA City Councilwoman Nithya Raman will go ahead and challenge the Mayor Karen Bass in the November general election.

Under California's election system, a runoff between the top two vote-getters is held unless one person finishes with more than 50 percent of the first-place vote. In the LA primary, Bass, 72, finished in first place with 34.30 percent, with Raman, 44, in second place with 29 percent and Pratt in third with 25.52 percent, per LA Vote.

Kimmel pointed out that Trump's idea that the race was rigged with Pratt is absurd because the mayoral primary came on the same ballot as the California governor's race. In the first gubernatorial race, Trump was endorsed by Trump Steve Hilton advanced to face the Democrat Xavier Becerra in November.

On Wednesday Jimmy Kimmel Live!host played a clip of Trump's complaints during a recent Oval Office press conference.

“The only reason [Hilton, 56] he was approved, he got all the votes he needed, probably to be the first,” Trump argued.” The only reason they endorsed Steve Hilton … is because the heat was on them. They cheat the dogs.”

As his studio audience laughed, Kimmel tried to make sense of the idea, “Wow, that's amazing … Votes for governor, they don't go untouched! It's diabolical! It's amazing how incredibly stupid people can be incredibly smart at the same time.”

“In a sane world, that's a statement [from Trump] it would have been the time when the nurse came in and put him to sleep,” Kimmel said. “But that's not the world we live in!”

Earlier this week, Kimmel took Pratt to task for his previous vow to leave Los Angeles unless he won the mayoral race.

“[Pratt] he said he's done with LA, and Spencer, if you're watching, we're like, we're so sorry to see you go,” the comedian told viewers on Tuesday, June 9. “We know we're going to miss you in hell. You are a man of your word and you should go. You said you will go and I know that things may be tough right now, especially the money for donations from outside the province is running out.”

Then he said, “Moving is expensive, so, to help you out, we rented a U-Haul for you. It has a lot of room. It has two beds, tables, chairs, all your crystals, whatever you want. Our crew spent the whole day decorating it for you.”

Pratt also applauded X on Wednesday for sharing photos of the destruction of his former home, which burned in the 2025 Palisades Fire.

“Jimmy Kimmel I think you missed part of the story that I don't need a U-Haul…I don't have anything to pack anymore,” he tweeted.

The latest Us Weekly In the cover story, Pratt talked about whether he really plans to leave Los Angeles if his political bid fails.

“I'm not doing this to lose, I'm doing it to win and save the city,” he said. Us in May. “My point [was]if I don't win, LA is done, and it won't survive. It will be out of a dystopian nightmare movie.”

Kimmel's jokes about Pratt's primary loss drew a fiery response from the former Look the hostel Meghan McCainwho called the TV host “mean, heartless.”

“The day [Kimmel] if you are off the air it will be a better day for the country,” McCain, 41, said on Twitter on Wednesday.
