Jimmy Kimmel he confirmed that he has just surrendered to his rival of the night Stephen Colbert opportunity to host a guest Jimmy Kimmel Live! during his summer vacation.
“Yeah, I asked him, and I think it feels premature,” Kimmel, 58, said. Variety in a statement published on Wednesday, July 22. “But I told him, 'Whenever you want to receive guests, it doesn't matter if it's summer, I'll gladly back down.'”
When Kimmel made the request before his summer break, he revealed that Colbert, 62, politely declined.
Both Colbert and Kimmel have been targets of the President Donald Trump over the years. In May, Colbert signed on as host The Late Show after 11 years amid questions about whether the cancellation of his series was influenced by Trump, 80, he recently settled a $16 million lawsuit against CBS.

Colbert started his last game The Late Show an episode with painful respect for the audience that has stood by him for more than a decade.
“We've done more than 1,800 of these shows, and many times at night I come out here and talk to the audience beforehand, and tonight, I thought I'd talk to the audience here and the audience back home,” he said. “This show, I want you to know, and you know, it was a pleasure for us to do it for you.”
Later in one of his books, Colbert added, “We call it the 'joy machine' because to do this many shows, it has to be a machine.
Colbert didn't turn off the screen for long as he made an unannounced appearance at a public access show in Monroe, Michigan, one night after ending his tenure at CBS. (He previously hosted the Monroe Community Media program in 2015 while preparing The Late Show at first.)
“Since I ended up here in Monroe, Michigan, I spent 11 years as the chief executive of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, which came to an end last night,” he explained to viewers.” “Viewers outside of the greater Monroe area are able to watch Monroe Community Media because of something known as broadcasting, which I promised I wouldn't learn about when I was at CBS. And apparently CBS decided not to.”
While Colbert will not be a guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! this summer, Kimmel announced on June 18 that he had personally applied Rosie O'Donnell — one of Trump's enemies — to take his place for a week in August.
“As a special treat for our host, I asked one of his all-time favorites, Rosie O'Donnell, to be here to keep the hits coming. So, you're welcome,” Kimmel joked. “All I ask, Mr. President, is that you don't do anything stupid while I'm gone.”
