Jennifer Lopez celebrates his 57th birthday with some words of wisdom.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, July 24, the “Love Dont Cost a Thing” singer celebrated her special day by posting a video of herself riding in a car with the windows down as the sun shone on her and the wind gently blew through her hair.
JLo chose the reading of Theodore RooseveltA poignant 1910 speech, “The Man in the Square” as the soundtrack to the post.
“It is not the critical critic: it is not the person who points out how the bully stumbles or where the doer could have done better,” the speech begins.
A piece by the late president then praised “the man on the field, his face covered in dust and sweat and blood, who strives for heroism, who makes mistakes and repeats himself.”
For her part, Lopez captioned her Instagram with a simple message, writing, “The more you keep the better it gets ✨🥳.”
In the past, Lopez has been outspoken about the rhetoric surrounding aging in the public eye.
Talking to Elle in 2020 before launching her JLo Beauty collection, Lopez said age should never be mentioned when complimenting a person's appearance.
“You don't want to hear you look good at 50. [People] I just want to hear you look beautiful, no matter how old you are. And for me and the company, that's a big part of it,” the actor told the outlet at the time. “We don't want people to go, you look good at 60, 50, 40, 35. You want people to just go, wow, you look amazing.”
He went on to say, “[When people say] 'Oh my God, he's 50.' It's like, does it matter? You're the best person, no matter what.”
In December 2024, Lopez again responded to a reporter who made fun of her “getting up there” age.
“Listen, I can't believe it's been 30 years Selena. I can't believe that we have been doing this for 30 years and you will be 60 years old by then,” said the journalist in a video obtained by TMZ at that time.

“It's funny that you think I'm getting up there,” Lopez began, when a reporter stepped in to clarify that her comment was “a joke.” Lopez seemed unfazed by the speech, instead choosing to praise the audience.
“It's because I want to thank you guys. Because we've been doing this for a long time. We've been doing it for a long time and you guys were here with me,” said Lopez. “Today, I was singing new songs and I went back and sang my first song from 1999, 'If You Had My Love'.
He continued, “Honestly I feel like the best is yet to come. I honestly feel like my creativity and who I am as an artist – as you say, and I feel like this for me, was another level for me to go deeper into who I am as a person, as an artist.”
