How Swimming Teddy Has Been 'There' Ever Since He Became a Father

Teddy Swims opens up about how becoming a father has changed his outlook on life.
“Being there in a lot of situations was very important, very important, you know? Like, I find that being where my feet are now is the most important thing for me,” the “Mr. Know It All” singer, 33, tells Solo. Us Weekly while developing his relationship with White Claw. “There is a great purpose in each step I take, and in the things I do.”
Swimmers welcomed son Theodore, 13 months, with ex-girlfriend Raiche Wright June 2025. Earlier this month, Swims revealed that she and Wright had split while releasing her new single “Break Up in Reverse.”
The singer shares that she knows she won't be able to attend all of her son's important events, so she really wants to immerse herself in those special moments when she can.
“I feel like I'm the same as last year, in a lot of ways. And you're completely changing every day,” Swims recalled. “So to see that passage of time … how little time is, and to see that it is finite … is a terrifying, maddening thing.”
Swims adds that her new philosophy makes her enjoy the little moments with her son.
“There are many times when I sit with him doing nothing and this is the most productive thing I could do, to take my time and not be on my phone and be there,” he explained. “I look at him when I'm talking to him and he just wants you to look him in the eye, he just wants you to be there and see what he's doing, and he looks over his shoulder when he's doing anything, and it's like, 'Are you watching? And that's the most important thing for me.'”
Swimming admits that she knows it might sound “cheesy” to feel this way but she really wants to “make the time count” and “celebrate those little wins.”

“My son just did a lot of that to just slow down and give me that real time,” she said. Uswe note that it can be easy to feel like everyone has it all together as people often post their highlight reels online. “I think, in the age of social media … you're always comparing yourself to other people and what they've accomplished, and whatever fake life they're putting out, that it's always beautiful, and everything is amazing. It can be really frustrating.”
On days when Swims is on the road and can't physically be with her son, the “Bad Dreams” singer says she hops on a video call to spend time with her little one.
“I miss him, but I'm on Facetime with him every day I can,” he said Us. “We're like five hours apart in most of these places, I find him at his breakfast, lunch and dinner, I just try to jump up and see him. With a 1-year-old, he gets like, maybe a minute and a half of his attention, and he's focused on something else, but at least he's willing to see me.”
Swims admits he knows others in his situation who don't have the luxury of being able to check in with their families every day.
“There are guys who do my job who can't speak or see their children at all, you know, so I'm very grateful that we can come face to face in some way,” he said.

In addition to being in his country The Ugly TourSwims has teamed up with White Claw to hit the airwaves this summer. The partnership includes a limited edition collection that includes a bear-shaped pool tee, hoodie and t-shirt. The pool accessory embodies Swim's punk-rock style while also featuring a built-in waterproof Bluetooth speaker, central cooler and cup holders.
“I'm really happy with floaty, he's really cool,” said Swims Us. “You've got a big bear with a mustache, you've got a cooler, you can put your white nails in, something you can put them in when they're open, of course, some cups, and there's something like this waterproof Bluetooth speaker, so you know we've got everything you need in the hangs, the pool hangs, put it in your bathtub, I guess.
Swims added that the opportunity to work with White Claw was a perfect fit for him as he embraces small moments with loved ones.
“A white nail [is] like a perfect situation, because it's all about that, just being where your feet are,” he explains: “Having those people, and making that time so precious, because you know, time is just that, especially watching this little creature grow up so fast.”
The Swims collection will be available exclusively on whiteclaw.com on Thursday, July 16, at 9 a.m. ET, while supplies last.
