Gunslinger actor James Handy has died aged 81 after a stabbing

James Handyactor known for his roles in Top shot: Maverick again Jumanji he was stabbed to death. He was 81 years old.
According to a police statement, the veteran died at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 3, after being stabbed by his girlfriend's son. Michael Gledill. The incident is currently being investigated.
“On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley patrol officers responded to a radio call of an unknown disturbance in the 19200 block of Erwin Street. The 911 caller said, 'I'm the son of a man, I just killed a sinner.' When police arrived, they found James Handy, 81, in the backyard, unconscious and stabbed in the chest. The victim was taken to a local hospital by Los Angeles emergency services, where he was pronounced dead,” reads the LAPD statement.
Police said in a statement that Gledhill “alerted the nearby police” and told them “he was the one they were looking for.”
“The suspect lives in the area with his mother, who is the victim's girlfriend,” the LAPD statement continued. “Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time.”
Gledhill, 44, was arrested and taken to the Van Nuys jail, where he is being held for murder. Bail is set at $2,000,000.

During his acting career, Handy played a bartender in the 2022 film, Top shot: Maverick. He also portrayed the firefighter in the 1995 classic, Jumanji.

And among his 150 acting credits are roles in films like this one Arachnophobia (1990) and The Rocketeer (1991) and appearing in television shows such as NYPD Blue, Beverly Hills, 90210, Law & Order; Profile, The Young and the Restless again 9-1-1.
Handy was born in New York and his first foray into acting was in 1977 Tap.
