Euphoria's Jessica Treska on Daisy Spinoff Odds After Rue Death

Season 3 of Euphoria introduced an interesting new character to Rue's friend Daisy – but does that mean a breakout star Jessica Treska Can he find it on his own?
“It really shocks me that I had the impact that I have and that people talk about Daisy the way they are,” said Treska, 23, telling herself. Us Weekly. “We made a comment while we were there filming, 'Oh, you should do an ending about a farm family.' But I never thought a single person would say that after it aired.”
Treska was surprised when Daisy's scenes ended up blowing up on social media.
“The fact that anyone says it 1780683618 It's very good and it shocks me a lot,” he added.” “Yeah, I'd love to do that, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I think this is the end for Daisy and everyone on the show – but I can only dream.”
Season 3, which ended late last month, began with Rue (Zendaya) living in a home near the US-Mexico border. The hit HBO series briefly touched on the bond that Rue forms with the religious family that lives there – including their sheltered daughter Daisy.
“There I am [auditioned] I was told who Daisy was in the sense that she lives on a farm and has no connection to the outside world. The backstory was there and the vision was already there. It was easy to get out of that,” remembers Treska. “You have to always get out of yourself when you're playing an actor. What you bring to the table is what you bring if you grew up the way they did. So I just tried to portray what I will be, which is a gentle, soft, kind and curious person.”
At first Treska didn't know what kind of role Daisy would play in Rue's story, adding, “It was very unusual. So when the audition came in, I actually didn't know it was a role opposite Zendaya. … I had to film it a few times while trying to get my eyes down and I think it finally worked.”
While discussing her experience on the show, Treska praised Zendaya as her co-star.
“He was an amazing person and an amazing actor. It took him 10 seconds to go from laughing with me to Rue's head. He's so talented and so beautiful,” he recalled. “I feel like I know her so well if I have to drive her to the scene all the way there and the whole way back we'll be talking. That helped us have the connection that Rue and Daisy would have.”
It was that on-screen bond that ultimately contributed to Daisy's emotional response to finding out that Rue had died. For Treska, the hardest part was not spoiling the shocking ending while waiting for season 3 to premiere on HBO.
“My friends always talked to me about it.” They tried to read my face but even to them I was always right, I didn't tell anyone,” he said. “Because I know how it works. One person knows and it's a game of telephone. It was hard to keep it a secret.”

For Daisy, on the other hand, the realization of Rue's death will likely change her world moving forward, with Treska adding, “It's the first time she's had a tragedy like that – especially for someone she cared about so much. She's waited all that time for it to hit her hard to hear the news. It's the first time she's experienced a tragedy like that but I also think she's growing. She's seen part of that world.”
He continued: “There's a lot going on in Daisy's mind. … I can picture her talking to her father and mother afterwards and I'm like, 'I thought you guys taught me about the world being beautiful and God being everywhere. How could something like this happen to someone so beautiful and someone I love so much?' I can see him arguing with his parents that way he wants to see what the real world is like. Obviously, this is not the perfect picture they painted. I can see that he is curious and wants to go out and see for himself.”
Looking back at that final scene with Daisy, Treska shared what she hoped viewers missed, telling us, “Faith and hope and faith in something better than yourself and that there's something beyond this life that can pull you out of a great depth. With Rue and what she's going through, it pulled her out of that. A big part of that is to get you out of feeling guilty like that's the most painful thing for you. You've been wronged in this world.
Euphoria currently airing on HBO Max.
