Posting on her Instagram on Friday, July 17, DeGeneres shared condolences for Jenner from her and her wife, Portia de Rossiafter hearing news of Mary Jo “MJ” Shannondeath'.
“Portia and I know how much you loved your mom and how much of a force she was in your life and the lives of your entire family,” DeGeneres, 68, wrote alongside a photo of Jenner and MJ. “I can't imagine the pain you are going through right now. Sending you our love. @krisjenner.”

Sharing a lengthy tribute on her Instagram account on Thursday, July 16, Jenner announced that her mother had passed away just two weeks before her 92nd birthday.
“Today, we say goodbye to my beautiful mother MJ. 😞💔,” Jenner wrote. “No words can express what she said to me or the sadness of saying goodbye. My mother was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that is really important… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and not to spend too much time together. She taught us that family is everything.”

Kim Kardashian paid tribute to MJ later that day on her Instagram account, lovingly describing her late grandmother as her “best friend, [her] gossip friend [and her] eternal twin.”
“You taught us all the value of family, and those values are something we will carry with us forever!!!!! You were the woman who showed me what it means to be an active business woman,” Kim, 45, wrote.
