DWTS' Val Chmerkovskiy Wants 'Little' Politicians On The Show

Dancing with the Stars Val Chmerkovskiy opens up about who he does – and doesn't – want to see compete on the show.
“Little politicians,” Chmerkovskiy said only Us Weekly on Saturday, April 25, where I am Jennie Garth and the iHeartPodcast's “I Choose Me” live conference at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, California.
“One of the things I admire about our program, I love being a part of the fact that in a world that is designed to divide us and create misery between people, we are a program that creates a union and brings people together,” continued the professional dancer. “Yes, it's just a dance show, but it's more than just a dance show.”
Chmerkovskiy added, “Dance is just a vehicle to bring people together — of all ages, on all political sides. No one knows who's voting for who, and we're all just having fun and enjoying two hours a week of good family fun.”
Dancing with the Stars he has invited a number of controversial politicians to run in the past years, including the former Governor of Texas Rick Perryformer Fox News host Tucker Carlson and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
“My reaction was like, 'Yo, Sean Spicer is acting!' That was my reaction when I called my brother,” said Chmerkovskiy People in September 2019 after the former Trump administration official was cast on Season 28 of the reality competition show.

And you don't have to agree or follow all these people.”
He added at the time, “They're all very different. And the beauty, that I'm an ambassador for dance, is – what I'm most proud of is how inclusive dance is and that you don't judge based on any past.”
Although Chmerkovskiy hopes he won't have a political dance partner anytime soon, he's open to the idea of doing the fox trot with her. Summer House's Ciara Miller after his ex West Wilson and former BFF Amanda Batula he announced their platonic relationship had turned into love – without his knowledge.
“Ciara seems energetic and optimistic, and she seems happy to be doing the show,” he said. Us on Saturday. “Maura also seems very lovely. I can't guess that one of them will be my partner.”
He added, “It's like a quiet dating or a planned situation, so whoever will put me with, I will give it my all and like I said, every season, they will have my full attention and effort and focus, and I will give them everything I have.”
