Days of Our Lives happy as Gwen Rizczech (Emily O'Brien) just dropped a nuclear bomb on EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) this week. Worse, he found out about it from another person he hates, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry). So now, EJ is furious that Gwen is planning to buy Salem University Hospital.
He's trying to rip it out from under his ex and it's about to go bad. You have to love EJ's rant about Gwen holding her own and sticking a knife in EJ's back.
Gwen's Plan of Revenge Takes Place in Days of Our Lives
So, Gwen has been seeking revenge on EJ ever since he backed out of their financial deal with the miraculous resurrection serum. It was Gwen who financed the secret lab project to help EJ and promised Gwen a 50/50 split and they were expecting huge millions of dollars in future sales.
And if not for him, EJ probably wouldn't be able to fund the secret resurrection research of Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton). And when Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) was successfully rehabilitated, that's when EJ turned around and really messed her up. Not only did he tell Gwen that it would be a long time before they could make money from the serum.
That's right. But EJ said that the percentage of the money he will get will be much lower than what Gwen expected. And of course, EJ was hiding because he thought Gwen would not react. He has no way of going back to EJ and forcing him to give him what he promised, at least not in a court of law.
Gwen's Devious Plot on DOOL
But ever since EJ announced that he was backstabbing her, Gwen has been busy plotting. First, he went to talk to Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) about moving in with him and buying the hospital. However, money is tight The Titan thanks Tony DiMera Thaao Phenglis) and Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) business destruction. However, Gwen received a big fat divorce settlement from Dimitri Von Leuschner (Peter Porte) and seems to be planning to use it to stab EJ right in the back to get revenge for his betrayal. But Gwen also knows that going to war with EJ is too dangerous.
A Dead Person's Change in Days
So, this week, Gwen went to her former best friend, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart), because Gwen knows he wanted to get the century information and expose EJ's shady dealings that she knows are going on in that lab. So Gwen tells Leo that she can have all the dirty details of what EJ did, but the terms of Gwen's deal are that Leo can't write the story until Gwen is dead or gone.
And it turns out that you gave all the information to a third party. All the dirt on EJ and Rolf's sketchy science is in the hands of his lawyer. The whole story is in a sealed letter he left with his lawyer. And that book will fall into Leo Stark's hands if Gwen dies or if he doesn't contact his lawyer every 10 days.
Days of Our Lives: Leo Worries about Gwen
So, this mess that Gwen promised Leo is a lot bigger than Rolf and EJ waking up Lexi. And Leo was soon worried that Gwen might be in danger. And Leo said to Gwen, “Oh, okay. What did you do? You turned off the dead man's switch.” It's that thing in action movies where the villain has like a hand grenade attached to his hand. You know something where you have to constantly hold a switch or occasionally press a button or something or the bomb explodes like death or incapacitation. So, Leo was surprised but also worried.
And the best part I thought was when Gwen made the big confession to Leo. Gwen finally admitted to Leo that although yes, she is angry about what happened to her and Dimitri, she knows that Leo is still the truest friend she has ever had. Gwen knows she can trust Leo to follow through if anything happens to her. And of course, he hopes that Gwen won't die. However, there's also the possibility that Leo can double-cross him and possibly prevent Gwen from contacting her lawyer for more than 10 days, which could result in a dead man switch so that Leo can get the book detailing EJ's dirty deeds and publish it.
EJ Gets the News
It was really cool, I think, and seeing Mayor Paulina personally break the news to EJ that the board of health voted to impeach him. Paulina said that is a step closer to taking away EJ's ownership of the hospital, but she mocked him and said that they will not do it because they need another buyer.
And when Paulina said they had something on the table, EJ assumed it was Xander. And then he laughed at him because EJ knows Xander doesn't have the money to buy it. Paulina was more than happy to tell EJ that no, it wasn't Xander, it was Gwen who made the offer to buy the hospital. And you know you have the money to do it. You have all those Dimitri dollars.
And after informing Leo about the dead man's transformation, you know, just in case something happens, Gwen goes to tell EJ that she's returning the knife she stabbed him in the back with, and she does first. And since Gwen knows he's dangerous, she informs EJ that if anything happens to him, he'll be ruined. But we also know that he won't let Gwen get away with betraying him, even though EJ betrayed him first.
The War Is Increasing in Days of Our Lives
But now the ball is rolling Days of Our Lives. I can see him trying to hurt Gwen, especially if he goes ahead and buys the hospital. And it seems like she still wants to let Xander in on that deal because she called him after confronting EJ. And then, you know, he felt so hidden that he did this. Because Gwen and EJ did not have a legally binding contract because they did something unusual.
But that also means the blade cuts both ways and Gwen can do whatever she wants too. He knows that Caleb Brady will support him in his purchase of the hospital. Anything to remove EJ. So, we will have to wait and see if it happens. However, I don't think that will be the case because the summer promo shows that EJ is still in charge of the hospital because he's firing a very nervous Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). Therefore, something can happen to delay or prevent the sale. But still, Gwen won't give up.
Big Talks Are Coming
We know that he and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) are meeting with Leo and Dimitri for heated discussions in the next few weeks. Leo and Gwen are now renewed as best friends. And of course, Leo has had to accept that Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) has moved on with firefighter Gus (Michael Ocampo). So, when Dimitri returns to Salem their energies are different.
There is a little energy there. And it looks like Rafe, Gwen, and Leo are trying to get Dimitri to conspire with them. And it's probably against EJ because Rafe still wants to take him down. He works with the FBI, and the ISA. So, it looks like they need Dimitri for some reason. And Leo might offer himself as a bargaining chip because he tells Dimitri, “If you're not going to make a deal with Rafe, maybe you'll make one with me.”
So, yes, whatever they ask, if Dimitri agrees to bring Leo back, he might agree to it. So, even if EJ manages to hold on to the hospital and stop Gwen from buying it, that doesn't mean he's lost the battle. That's just war. So, wait and see, but it's about to get really messy between EJ and Gwen. And I can't wait.
