Days of Our Lives brings Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) furious that her designer handbags are counterfeit. He immediately thought that Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) were the ones doing the stealing.
Which honestly makes no sense to me. Gabi was planning to bail them out. So, why would they ever kill him? We will go into an epic mystery that helps Gabi when the thief is revealed.
Days of Our Lives: Gabi is Shocked to Find a Knockoff Purse
Now, let's talk about these purloined bag designs. So, Gabi was surprised when she saw Gwen Rizczech (Emily O'Brien) carrying one of her own. Gabi Chic bags. And at first glance, Gabi thought it was legit and she was happy. But when she got closer and looked at Gwen's bag, she saw it was cheap in one of Gabi's brand new designs.
Gwen didn't know it, but she bought an overpriced, fake bag online. And now, of course, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) is involved, and before he disappeared, he and Gwen were talking about it. They have discussed buying all kinds of fake designer clothes at sketchy malls in the past. That was before they both had a lot of money to spend.
And Gabi explained how frustrating it is for a designer when these original pieces are copied and tagged with a fake designer label. It's really bad for business. I personally feel his pain. My videos get stolen all the time. My icons are being stolen, my website name, my YouTube channel name.
There is a cartoon channel that has copied my icon colors and style trying to trick you into clicking. So, Gabi is furious and sends Leo and Gwen on a ride to investigate and find the thief. Of course, Gwen won't be much help because she's been kidnapped. And Leo gets permission from Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) to write an article about Gabi's counterfeiting problem and the entire world of fashion counterfeiting.
DOOL: Tracking down a Counterfeit Designer Ring
So, at first, Gabi thought that was it The Titan CEO Xander and Philip. And Gabi thinks because The Titan he handles his overseas goods, they open the crate, steal the bags, and use them to make knockoffs. That's why Gabi backed out of her deal to rescue the Titan with her legacy. Now, I will say this. He must be thinking about the last time he jumped to the conclusion Days of Our Lives.
That was after Philip dumped her because he found out she set them up and was doing corporate espionage on behalf of Tony DiMera. If you remember, Gabi accused Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) of spilling the beans, and she was 100% wrong. And I think you are 100% wrong about Xander and Philip.
Days of Our Lives: Kate is a possible suspect
But Gabi used the conduct clause in his contract as well Titan, and withdrew from the agreement he had made with them. And of course, you know Xander and Philip can't fight him in court, but I don't think they did. So, the question is, who exactly is copying Gabi's designs? One person to consider is Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow).
He conspires with Xander and Philip to set up a cheating suit for Johnny. That was dirty. Kate hates that Gabi made Philip's mistake and broke his heart. And as we know, Kate can be brutal because it's all out, you know, Philip and Kate know that Gabi was an informant. The Titan and the reason why he got this CEO job with their biggest competitor, The DiMera Company.
It would have worked if Tony hadn't fallen for Gabi twice instead of hiring Theo. And Mama Kate doesn't let anyone mess with her sons. He was going to beat Philip to pay in a minute. He doesn't want Gabi to get away with what he did. So, it is possible that Kate is following these illusions Gabi Chic bags. But I doubt that.
Days of Our Lives: Suspects and the Dark Truth
So, we're guessing it's not Xander or Philip or Kate, maybe Tony DiMera. He and his fashionista wife Anna DiMera could be behind all this work. Tony may have been upset that Gabi turned down the job when he asked her to be CEO after Theo decided to step down. We know the DiMeras love revenge games and they love to manipulate people.
So, it's possible that Tony is trying to mess with Gabi. I mean, he may have set it up to make it look like Xander and Philip are doing it to get Gabi to turn her back on them and reconsider being CEO of DiMera, answer directly to Tony because she doesn't want Johnny on the job. But I doubt it.
Days of Our Lives: Will EJ Be Guilty?
Another DiMera however could be after this. Why not EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel)? He might be messing with Gabi. He hates that he got his hands on half of Stefan's inheritance. She proved to Theo that she was Stefan's widow, not his ex-wife. And of course, Theo knows that Gabi wanted to use the money to save her The Titan.
So, it's possible that EJ figured out that Gabi was going to ride to the rescue and help Philip because he feels guilty. And if you remember, EJ founded a holding company and bought it The Titan's borrow and set these new bad terms, very high interest rates, regular payments.
So, I wouldn't put it to EJ that his woman, Rita, created a fake ring to sell. Gabi Chic bags to get busy with him and yes driving the difference between Gabi and the guys The Titan. I think EJ is capable of many clever revenge schemes. But I feel like she has bigger fish to fry than Gabi, so I don't think it's her.
Theo Umlandu in DOOL?
Another DiMera worth considering though is Theo Carver. You are completely rational. She's really mad at Gabi for thinking she told Philip her dirty business spy secret. And let's face it, Theo is smart enough to set up a fake ring and those knockoff websites. He is a computer genius.
So, Theo may have hacked Gabi Chic servers and steal copyrighted designs from there. However, I don't think Theo can do this because he had a lot of love for Gabi which might still be delayed. Also, Theo is one of the few good DiMera. So, that brings me to who I think he really is – someone who is really shocking.
We'll see, once it's officially revealed, but I suspect it could be Javi Hernandez's (Jacob Martinez) new boyfriend, Gus (Michael Ocampo), doing this. At first glance, he seems like a really nice guy, and Javi is crazy about him, and Gabi approves of him. He's still upset, of course, that Leo broke Javi's heart.
Gus Makes Perfect Sense About Dates
But that's why I suspect Gus. All these years, Gabi's bag designs have never been stolen, no problems. Suddenly, there are knockoffs for sale not long after Gus moves to Salem. In addition, she lives with Javi at Casa Hernandez and Gabi works at home a lot. And remember, she lived with Philip in the Kiriakis mansion, but she kicked him out and went back home with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and others. And then suddenly, the rolling bags.
We know that his laptop was lying around the house, maybe with some drawings. And remember what Javi's job was when he first came to Salem? He was Gabi's assistant in Gabi Chic. So, that means Javi had access to all his files. And based on proximity, Gus has access to Javi's laptop. And since she is family, Gabi may not have kept Javi's credentials from her Gabi Chic files. So the question is, why would Gus do this? Greed or crime of opportunity or both?
DOOL Needs Gus Out of the Way
Javi's boyfriend may have a sick family member who needs money. So, he may have his own motive. In the end, the main reason I think Gus is because he has to go. Most likely, Leo will end up back with Javi and they need Gus out of the way. But right now, he seems like a very good man, a really good guy. Maybe it's too good to be true, though.
It didn't make sense for Leo to work with Gabi to break this fake case because I expect Leo to find the goods that prove it's Gus. But from then on, Gabi and Javi won't want to believe it. They might even think that Leo is setting Gus up on purpose because he is jealous. We'll see how it goes. But Gabi's designer handbag thief may be right under her nose and the last person she would think would betray her is Javi's new love interest.
