Carley Fortune Reacts to Harry, Meghan Producing Meet Me at the Lake

The author Carley Fortune he shares his thoughts Prince Harry again Meghan Markle to produce a copy of his book Meet me at the pool for Netflix.

“So, when we were choosing the film, I had a really nice long phone call with Meghan once Tracy Ryersonwho goes with Archwell. And I felt like they really understood the story and what was important about the story,” she said.

Fortune continued, “And we talked a lot, because of the story Meet me at the pool it's love, but it's more about mother and daughter, and … we talked a lot about parenting and that these love stories are about so much more. A story about grief, a story about mental health.”

I Every Summer After The author concludes that he feels the story is “in very good hands” with Archwell.

Fortune also joked that he “doesn't hang out” with the royals “on the weekends”.

News broke in August 2023 that Harry and Meghan had bought the rights to Fortune's second romance novel to be adapted for Netflix.

“I'm thrilled to be working with Netflix and Archewell to deliver Meet me at the pool on the screen,” Fortune said at the time.

Meet me at the pool follows strangers Fern and Will as they spend a day together in Toronto and make a deal to meet again next year at a lakeside resort. Will arrives nine years late, forcing Fern to wonder if he is the same person she connected with a long time ago.

In addition to Fern and Will's love story, the book explores mental health topics such as postpartum obsessive-compulsive disorder.

“What I've found in books is that I can bring together things that are important to me and people can relate to them because when they read this romance, they know there's going to be a happy ending,” Fortune, who lives in Toronto with husband Marco and their two sons, told Bush Hager, 44. “But they're learning about mental health.”

Fortune chose to include postpartum OCD in the book after her own experience with the condition. According to the International OCD Foundation, postpartum OCD is characterized by persistent, persistent thoughts and images that drive new parents to perform repeated physical or mental rituals to prevent perceived harm to their child.

“Many people don't know about it, I didn't know about it either, and I found it very gratifying to hear about students who didn't know what they were going through until they read this book, who found the courage to talk to a loved one or a doctor,” Fortune continued. “I think there's such a power in that … it's been a way for me to connect with people.”
