Band of Brothers actor Iain Robertson found guilty of rape following a trial in Scotland.
Robertson, 45, was convicted on Tuesday, June 23, of five charges, including rape and domestic abuse, against three women between 2004 and 2019, the BBC reported.
The Scottish actor appeared on the acclaimed HBO Band of Brothers and is best known for playing Stevie O'Hara in the BBC soap opera River City.
A judge at the High Court in Glasgow heard how Robertson raped a woman he was dating River City between 2018 and 2019.
The woman revealed that she did not want to date the actor but they did date. She later told Robertson she wanted to return to a platonic relationship, according to the BBC.
“It was a long time. Iain was convinced I was denying that I loved him and denying what I wanted,” he said. “I don't think he believed me.”
The woman added that she felt that “her boundaries were being ignored.”
She said she was sexually assaulted after staying at Robertson's in Glasgow. The woman said she was planning to sleep on the couch, but the actor said he could get in her bed with her and “nothing will happen.”
The woman said Robertson then slept with her. “I was lying down, limping a lot and then he walked on top of me,” he said, explaining the incident which he said was inappropriate.
Another woman revealed that the actor “threw her” during an argument in 2014, the BBC reported. He said, “I thought you were going to hit me.”
Robertson was convicted of assault in connection with a second woman but dropped the second charge.
The woman who is also an actress said that Robertson called her and left voicemails in a “subtle” way and sent snack boxes to theaters where she performed.
Giving evidence at the beginning of the trial, Robertson said he was “no angel” but denied all the charges against him.
“I know if someone is not there as I am in what we are doing,” he said about the alleged rape. “I'm sensitive enough to know that there are non-verbal ways of communicating.”
“It would be something I would not participate in at all,” he added.
Robertson will be sentenced on July 23.
