Brooks Koepka Opens Up About Aftermath Of Wife's Miscarriage

Professional golfer Brooks Koepka he's currently competing in the 2026 PGA Championship, and he's doing so with a clear mind after “family issues” plagued him in 2025.

“We had a lot of family problems last year,” he told reporters after his first round on Thursday, May 14. “That made me sad… and it made me very sad. [my wife] Jena [Sims].”

Koepka, 36, and Sims, 37, revealed in October that Sims suffered a miscarriage when she was 16 weeks pregnant.

“It was hard to deal with,” he said. “Yes, I mean, home is in the best place. It's easier to go out to work when everything at home is in order. Everything is much better.”

He continued, “Last year it was difficult for me because of what happened on the golf course, there is nothing that can be done about it.”

On the course, Koepka struggled last year, where he competed with LIV Golf, before returning to the PGA game in 2026. He finished the first day at the PGA Championship in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania with a respectable 1 under par.

“Being in a better place. It's exciting,” he said. “It's a new beginning again. I think it's a big part of it. Yeah, when the whole line kind of comes together, it makes it fun to be here.”

It wasn't the first time Koepka talked about his wife's miscarriage to reporters.

“A lot has happened in the last five or six months with my family,” he said at a press conference in January, adding that what they went through “played a big part” in his decision to return to the PGA Tour.

“I have no regrets,” he said. But at the same time, I'm really excited about this new chapter.

Koepka and Sims are also parents to his son, Crew, who was born in 2023. They shared in October that they were expecting another child before facing “a heartbreak no parent can prepare for.”

“We are devastated, but we always hope to give Crew a sibling one day,” they wrote in a joint post on Instagram, alongside a carousel that began with a sonogram photo.

“Many times, these conflicts happen quietly,” the document continued. “There is still a lot of work and research needed to better understand and support women's reproductive health. If you are facing or have lost pregnancy or infertility, please know that you are not alone. 💔.”

They added, “Finally, I want to recognize the doctors and nurses who have to deliver this kind of sad news every day. It has to be the hardest part of their job, and I leave a space for you in my heart.”
