Bethenny FrankelA resume may be stacked with similar credits Real Housewives alum and founder of Skinnygirl, but our favorite gig is when she shares budget-friendly beauty products that really work. Recently, she took to Instagram to tout a $7 face cream, which she called “magical” and compared it to La Mer — aka the luxe, celebrity-favorite lotion that costs hundreds of dollars per jar.

De La Cruz Vitamin E Cream is a drugstore staple that sits quietly on the shelves while busy products steal the limelight. Frankel revealed that after getting a facial, she got a little red, which led her to use the under-the-radar skincare staple, available on Amazon.

“So it's healing, it's very empowering,” he said, discussing his decision. “It definitely feels a little lighter, less sticky than La Mer. I love this cream.”

Those who follow Frankel's beauty reviews on TikTok and Instagram know that this type of endorsement is unusual. She's earned a reputation as the internet's most candid beauty critic — someone who will tell you when a $300 serum is overkill. So, when he puts his name behind a $7 cream, that means something.

If there's an industry ridiculously full of endless products promising miraculous results, it's skincare. But when it comes to reviewer testimonials, visible, long-lasting results and real-world performance without the splurge, Amazon shoppers say LilyAna Natural Retinol Face Cream is a rare gem that deserves all of its 8,000+ five-star reviews. It's far away […]

Obviously, the highlight of De La Cruz Vitamin E Cream is, well, vitamin E, which is known for its antioxidant power and ability to make skin softer and look brighter. Add avocado oil, almond oil, shea butter and aloe vera, and the ingredient list reads more like a homemade recipe than a mass-market formula. The texture of the product is rich without being heavy, which Frankel notes is that it stays lighter on the skin than its luxury counterpart.

The simple mix of creams is part of what makes it attractive, and consumers continue to rely on affordable yet effective solutions to hydrate dry patches, tighten post-cleansing and give skin an attractive softness, plumpness. Some even note that it helps in reducing scars and stretch marks.

“I've been using this for years,” wrote one Amazon reviewer, adding that even a small amount keeps their face “smooth and soft.”

“It helps fade my acne scars a little when I go out,” they continued. “I also use it on razor bumps with the same brand of Vitamin E oil.”

One customer admitted that, although their friend used the cream “on the neck and face,” they found it helped with dry feet as well.

“My feet aren't terribly dry or cracked, but I do get bad spots, and I know when they need a little more TLC,” they say. “Apply this cream for 3 nights and put on socks, you will be able to rub off the dead skin like magic.”

Frankel's co-sign feels especially notable because of that jaw-dropping La Mer comparison. Luxury creams have been the gold standard of splurge-worthy makeup for decades, but someone who can (and has) to pay for the expensive stuff says this drugstore pick works just as well. We are tempted to believe him!

If you've been eyeing that La Mer gadget and quietly closing the tab, Frankel just gave you a permission slip to skip the splurge and opt for a cream that's been hiding in plain sight (even one of her followers noted that they've been using that exact cream “since their youth”).
