Avengers: Doomsday Synopsis Reveals Over Half a Decade of Secret Planning

By Chris Snellgrove | Updated

Marvel fans are gearing up to see the web-head of their friendly neighborhood return to theaters next month Spider-Man: A New Daymovie that is set to be a big blockbuster this summer. However, that is just an appetizer for fans of this cinematic universe. The main course will be Avengers: Doomsdaywhich comes out on December 18. So far, most of the details on that crossover extravaganza have been kept under wraps, meaning fans can only speculate about the movie's plot based on the first trailers. Now, however, Marvel Studios has released the official synopsis of Doomsday.

Besides details about the cast, directors, and producers, the synopsis contains a one-sentence description of the upcoming film's plot. “Come in Avengers: DoomsdayBeloved heroes from three different places will face dangerous danger and face a threat unlike anything they have ever faced.” Not much to go on, but fans of Marvel comics think they already know what this means. If they're right, we know exactly what to expect about this (literally) universe-shattering plot, and those details reveal something surprising: that Marvel has been planning the big events of this film for a long time. half a decadetrash movies and TV shows with clues!

The Devil is in the Details

So, what does this definition mean? Big fans of Marvel Comics agree that the part about the universe being on a “dangerous collision course” and dealing with an “immanent threat” is very real. In the comics, Doctor Doom's various shenanigans set off a chain of events where parallel realities keep colliding, destroying both. To avoid this outcome, there is only one option: one Earth must destroy the other before a collision begins. Afterwards, Doom merges the destroyed realities into a Battleworld under his control. Once defeated, the base scene is reset, but with some changes, such as the addition of Miles Morales.

What does that mean Avengers: Doomsday and the MCU? Doom will launch a similar attack, and we will see three different universes fighting for survival. Most likely, those countries will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe, and the original X-Men universe. Those surrounding areas will be destroyed, but Doom will revive and unite the world of War. After his beating Secret Warswe will have an MCU reset where some characters and characters have changed. There will also be lore changes, such as the introduction of the X-Men and other changes to the MCU.

Are You Down With The Multiverse?

While this sounds good, some Marvel fans are skeptical because Avengers: Doomsday sounds like Plan B. Everyone knows Kang was supposed to be the Worst Player and was only replaced because of Jonathan Majors' legal problems. That's enough to make a cynic think that Doomsday just a collection of strange ideas held together by nostalgia. However, some comic fans have been analyzing other clues, and have come to surprising conclusions. That is, the one that Marvel Studios built in secret Doomsday extreme half a decade!

How does that work? Among other things, Doctor Strange and Assorted Madness He clearly presented the concept of multidisciplinary intervention. If Doomsday was the first film to introduce this idea to the MCU, fans would wonder why we hadn't heard of it yet. Now, Doomsday builds its entire structure on the essential element of the theme from Various Madnesses: that is, that attack is dangerous, and those who cause it can endanger countless lives that may exist in the universe. That point is also driven home by the burglar who accidentally caused the break-in Miracles.

Additionally, while we won't see more entry until Avengers: Doomsdaywe've already seen TVA “pruning” reality and destroying all multiverses at a time. In addition, Deadpool and Wolverine introduces the concept of Anchor Beings whose entire environment will slowly disappear when they die. Deliberate destruction of the universe may play a role in stopping Doom (perhaps using TVA technology or resources to travel to different realities). TVA's loose grip on the multiverse may play a role in the world's conflict. Finally, there are persistent rumors that Tony Stark was the MCU's successor, and his death paved the way for the arrival of Doom, his multiverse counterpart.

Obviously, we won't know exactly how accurate all of these predictions are until then Avengers: Doomsday he goes out. But the official synopsis matches the humor of this movie as well Secret Wars supported, and indeed it does it seems like Marvel has been building Doomsday by dropping powerful clues from past movies and shows. I hope all these formations will be of mutual benefit. Otherwise, a blockbuster movie meant to cure superhero fatigue may serve as the final nail in the coffin of the most successful cinematic universe in Hollywood history.
