On the Friday, April 24, episode of the NBC sitcom, Emmett (Linn) ended his relationship with his girlfriend Monica (Cheri Oteri). She told Bobbie (McEntire), who wanted to share with Emmett, that she was ready for them to fall in love again. But before Bobbie could explain herself, Emmett made it clear that he was done dating – for now.
Bobbie chose to honor Emmett's wishes and they ended the season single. The twist may come as a surprise to fans who opened season 2 expecting to see Emmett and Bobbie as a couple.
However, when season 2 begins in 2025, Emmett reveals to Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) that he didn't tell Bobbie that he knew about his secret sister, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), years.
“It's very dynamic, for sure. Everyone knows what's coming and that's exciting and stressful for the audience,” Escobedo, 28, teased exclusively. Us Weekly about Bobbie finding out about Emmett's secret. “That is to be expected, because we know that if this secret goes down, it will go down a lot.”
McEntire, 71, noted that there were “consequences” that needed to be addressed.

“It's the most important moment for something big to happen – something unexpected,” he added of Bobbie and Emmett's romance. “He gives the audience what they want.”
While reflecting on the epic moment, Escobedo noted why now was the right time to explore romance, adding, “Isabella's entry into Bobbie's life opened him up. It brought out a very vulnerable side because he was forced to be vulnerable. Isabella pushed him into it. There's a soft side that comes looking for love and comfort.”
Linn, 69, also weighed in on two big stories.
“Bobbie just got a lot of love from her — most of the women love her,” she told Us with a laugh. “It's the right time because it makes it so interesting. We know he has a little secret but we don't know what it is and we don't know where he's going with it. But he's the one with that secret and we'll see what happens.”

“He's with Rex now and we thought, 'If it's ever going to work, this is going to work.' For me it works. They're just great together,” Abbott shared in March 2025. “So I'm interested in following that track and seeing how it goes. That was the plan even before we released Rex – believe it or not. Because we cast him and that was always intended as a possible love interest because I have some of those stories that I want to tell. I couldn't tell them from the old Reba sitcom.”
