90s Cartoon Entertainment That Streams Smaller Episodes Than You Think Is One Of The Greatest Of All Time

Some of the best shows in history have only been around for a few episodes, since Star Trek: The Original Series to Fireflybut they left a lasting impression on everyone who saw them. Dark Water Pirates is one of those shows, as it only aired 21 episodes, but for a certain generation, it's a well-remembered classic that still holds up more than 30 years later. The Hanna-Barbara series may have come and gone, but it continued to be syndicated for years and marked a turning point in American animation.
Dark Water Pirates is the Game of All Time

Dark Water Pirates was created by David Kirschner, former president of Hanna-Barbara, which explains why it was good (Kirschner wrote Hocus Pocus again American tailamong many other hits) and why it became the most expensive cartoon in the history of the famous company.
In 1991, the first five episodes cost half a million dollars each and contained more frames of animation than most Saturday morning cartoon series. All the behind-the-scenes expense and effort comes across on screen as viewers immerse themselves in the weird and wonderful world of Mer.
Mer's Imagination World

A strange planet not unlike Earth, Mer is full of seas and seems to be in a constant state of turmoil, with islands rising out of nowhere, floating rocks shooting from the sky, and the existence of strange and unknown Black waters.
Gradually devouring everything in its path, Ren and his friends, Tula the necromancer, Ioz the pirate, and Niddler the bird monkey, emerge from the orphan to find the thirteen Gems of Rule and reclaim the planet. Ren is, in fact, the Prince of the fallen empire Octopon, hence the fate of the planet rests on him.
The villains

Opposing the heroes are a host of villains, but none like the pirate captain Bloth, who wants to collect the Gems of Rulership to rule the Dark Waters. Bloth and his team may sound familiar, like this Dark Water Pirates he put together big names for what would otherwise be disposable parts. Bloth is portrayed by Star Trek's Brock Peters, while Mantus, his second in command, is played by Peter Cullen, aka Optimus Prime.
Of course, if Prime is involved, then it should be Megatron, and Frank Welker lends his evil voice to the Dark Dweller. Konk, not a very sharp knife, provides a bit of comic relief with his bluster and the sheer joy of everyone who hears Tim Curry's voice.
I Never Got An Audience

With an exciting setting, an immersive storyline, talented voice actors, and beautiful animation, Dark Water Pirates it was planned for success. The only problem is that, at the time of its premiere, the audience was not there. Although the show had its fans, Hanna-Barbara wanted a hit series, as they already had licensing deals and a multi-media offensive plan.
Unfortunately, while it's now easy to see animation work, character development, and dark history as things to be admired, at the time, it couldn't compete for popularity. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Dark Water Pirates it ended suddenly, without finishing the story, 21 episodes were aired, and despite the rumors of more episodes being made, it never happened and it's just a playground rumor.
Why Do You Think It's More Successful?

Dark Water Pirates leaves behind an amazing run, short as it is, and while Nibbler may be a little annoying, he's still not as bad as the similar phoenix Needler from one of his contemporaries on the show, Conan is an excellent host. For the action figures, the two video games, as was the practice of the time, were in two different genres depending on whether you played the SNES (beat'em up) or Genesis (platformer) versions, and the simulation game, you'd be forgiven for thinking the show was bigger than it was.

When I went back to look I Pirates of Dark WaterI was surprised at how fast it went, even though I remember sadly that it was endless. I can't remember my parents' phone numbers, but I can picture the Black Water eating people and Octopon's look when the lighthouse keeper who raised Ren explained his parentage.
