'Ride or Die' Season 1 – Great Video
Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham in Ride or Die.
Main VideoHow well do you know your best friend? That's what former lawyer and now dissatisfied housewife Debbie (Octavia Spencer) wonders where his BFF of decades, Judith (Hannah Waddingham), reveals a secret he's been hiding for years – he really is a top-notch assassin! With Debbie's life in danger, Judith has no choice but to protect her friend the only way she knows how – by killing dozens of people with knives, guns and even her bare hands.
Sounds like the setup for an interesting comedy movie, though Ride or Die is an eight-episode series, each episode clocking in at around 50 minutes. That's the show's main weakness – the story is best served in a tightly-paced, 100-minute movie. But it's still worth broadcasting for its two likable stars, who are given plenty of opportunities to show off their skills in comedy, drama and punching boys in the face. Spencer and Waddingham clearly have fun playing their complex characters, and you'll enjoy watching them.
'Lucky' Season 1 – Apple TV

Anya Taylor-Joy in 'Lucky'.
Apple TVLuciana “Lucky” Armstrong (Anya Taylor-Joy) usually lives up to his name – he's had a lot of luck scamming people out of money. But when he gets involved in a multi-million dollar heist that goes horribly wrong, his luck runs out – fast. With her team and her husband, Cary (Drew Starkey), is missing, and the mob boss, Priscilla (Annette Bening), who wants the money Lucky owed him yesterday, Lucky will have to rely on his wits, yes, a little luck, to get out alive.
Apple TV has been killing it this summer, with horror-comedy Widow's Bay reaping multiple Emmy nominations for 2026 and happiness Lots of Fun Guaranteed being one of the most relevant games of the season. Lucky is as good – and addictive – as those shows, with Taylor-Joy sinking her teeth into a role that's part action heroine, part femme fatale and all things fun.
The first two episodes are streaming now, with each subsequent episode being released every Wednesday until the season finale on August 19.
'Quarterback' Season 3 – Netflix
From its debut in 2023, Netflix's The Quarterback the series attracted sports fans and viewers who had never touched a pigskin in their lives. The show goes beyond sports by focusing on the complex people under the helmets and shoulder pads. Season 1 included Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins again Marcus Mariotawhen season 2 aired Joe Burrow, Jared Goff again Cousins.
In The Quarterback Season 3, four actors are featured in its seven episodes, all streaming now on Netflix: Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, Baker Mayfield again Jayden Daniels. Other highlights include Ward's journey as an NFL rookie during his first season and football veteran Flacco navigating a surprise trade from the Cleveland Browns to the rival team, the Cincinnati Bengals. In looking at the private lives of some of the football stars, Quarterback makes a compelling case that the most exciting drama happens off the field than on it.
'The Hawk' Season 1 – Netflix

Jimmy Tatro and Will Ferrell in Hawk
NetflixLonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins (Is Ferrell) washed all over. A veteran golfer, he has won almost every major tournament except one – the US Open. Before he hits his last golf ball, Lonnie wants to win one important trophy that eludes him, but his average golf swing, combined with his biggest rival, Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson), standing in his way. Can Lonnie win one last time?
While A hawk received mixed reviews from critics, it is still worth watching to see Ferrell as an athlete who has lost his pride. He is supported by a great team of newbies and vets, including colleagues It's SNL alum Molly Shannonthe Gorilla Grodd of the future Jimmy Tatro and stand-up comedians Fortune Feimster.
