President Donald Trump on Friday warned Iran that the United States will “destroy and destroy” the country if Tehran attempts to assassinate him.

“1000 Missiles Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow soon, if the Iranian Government carries out its threat, announced in many corners of the World, to kill, or attempt to kill, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president said he has ordered the US military to prepare to retaliate if Iran tries to kill him.

“The orders have been given, and the US Army is ready, willing, and able, for a period of one year, subject to an extension, to completely annihilate and destroy all areas of Iran – PRAISE ALLAH!” Trump said.

Trump's comments came one day after the Wall Street Journal reported that Israeli intelligence had recently shared information with US officials indicating that Iran was considering a new plot to assassinate the president.

Earlier this week, Trump told reporters at a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, that he remains under heavy scrutiny from Iran.

“I am number 1 on Iran's death list,” the president said.

Earlier on Friday, Trump also told the New York Post that he had left orders to strike Iran if the assassination attempt was successful.

“I've been on their list for a long time. That's what we're dealing with,” Trump said. “… The only thing is, I left instructions – if anything happens, to just bomb them at levels they've never seen before.”

Trump also dismissed reports that Israeli intelligence has discovered a new plot to kill Iran.

“No, no, Israel is not coming up with anything,” Trump told the newspaper. “I have been No [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it's a way of life, you know.”

The New York Times reported that following Trump's trip to Turkey, the US Secret Service recommended that he board an older Air Force One rather than a newly refurbished Boeing 747 donated by Qatar as a safety measure amid renewed tensions with Iran.

The White House did not say whether the aircraft modification was related to specific safety concerns, but said the new Air Force One is equipped with advanced safety features.

“The new Air Force One is a state-of-the-art aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art security systems that ensure the safety of the President and his staff,” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung previously told Fox News Digital. “As the President recently said, there are many enemies of the United States targeting him, and we are using all the tools at our disposal to deal with those threats.”

Iran has wanted Trump dead since he ordered a military strike in 2020 that killed Iran's General Qasem Soleimani.

This week, mourners repeatedly called for Trump to die during the funeral of Iran's former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The comments also come as an agreement to end the war between the US and Iran has emerged in recent days.

Iran attacked commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz this week, prompting renewed US military action, including a new round of strikes against Iranian military infrastructure tied to naval operations and other military facilities.

Trump has declared the ceasefire “over” and warned of further action if Iran continues its attacks.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House and the US Secret Service for comment.
