As the family of convicted killer Carmelo Anthony faces questions over hundreds of thousands of dollars raised online, the father of slain Texas teenager Austin Metcalf says his family is still dealing with death threats, torture and the emotional fallout from the killing more than a year after.

Metcalf's father Jeff told Fox News Digital that he and other family members continue to receive threatening messages following Anthony's conviction and sentencing.

“I'm getting text messages and voicemails that are horrible and disgusting,” Metcalf said Thursday. “I woke up this morning and now there are three of them.”

Metcalf said the threats were also directed at those closest to him.

“Someone threatened Hunter's life while we were in court,” he said, referring to Austin's twin brother.

The Frisco Police Department confirmed to Fox News that they are “following up on several online threats made against the Metcalf family.”

“Currently, we are receiving many reports from concerned citizens and are actively gathering information as we investigate each of these threats,” police said. “No arrests have been made yet, but this investigation is taking time, and it is possible that arrests will be made as the cases continue.

“At this time, we have increased patrols in the Metcalf residence to ensure their safety and the safety of our community while we continue to investigate. We encourage anyone who sees a direct threat to report it through our app, Tip411, or by calling our non-emergency number at 972-292-6010.”

The ordeal took its toll on the Metcalf family.

“It took a toll on me emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially,” Metcalf said.

He said the enmity extended beyond his family.

“They were surrounded by a bunch of people yelling, 'F— off,' and, 'You're going to end up like Austin,' and 'We're going to kill you,'” Metcalf said.

“These are high school kids, 17-, 18-year-old kids,” he said of his son's friends. “They were shedding tears.”

Metcalf said public debate often ignores the young people who witnessed Austin's murder and continue to live with trauma.

“No one really wants to talk about it, what about the kids who were there who saw it?” he said. “Who have to deal with this for the rest of their lives.”

Jeff Metcalf says surveillance footage of his son Austin's stabbing tells a much different story than some of the allegations that have circulated online since the deadly brawl at a Texas track meet.

The grieving father, who saw the film before it was shown during Anthony's murder trial, told Fox News Digital that he believes the video should be made public because it will raise questions about what happened under the Memorial High School team tent on April 2, 2025.

“Yeah, I've seen the video. I've seen the video a long time ago,” Metcalf told Fox News Digital.

“The video clearly shows that the conversation lasted less than 10 seconds. That's it,” he said. “There was no one-on-one.”

Metcalf said he appreciates the public release of the video.

“To be honest, I would like it to be released,” he said. “So I can go, 'Look, if you weren't in court, or if you don't know, here's the video.'

According to Metcalf, this video directly contradicts the allegations that Anthony was jumped, surrounded or attacked by many students before being stabbed.

“He didn't jump. No one-on-ones. He wasn't surrounded,” Metcalf said. “Watch the video. There's a shove and there's a stabbing and it's over and he runs away. That's it.”

Metcalf's comments come as online debate over the case continues to intensify, fueling abuse and threats against his family. The incident comes amid increased scrutiny of fundraising efforts aimed at Anthony and his family.

A recently launched fundraising campaign has been removed and refunded by the platform after raising hundreds of dollars. Questions also persisted about previous fundraising efforts that raised more than $600,000 for Anthony's family following the fatal stabbing.

Metcalf, who has spent much of the past 14 months under a gag order, said he watched as others publicly discussed the case while he was unable to respond.

THE FAMILY OF KILLER KARMELO ANTHONY CONVICTED USED MONEY FOR TRANSPORTATION AND LIVING.

“People are always telling lies and fake news to fit their stories,” he said. “Every race…they make money. It's just clicks. They make money, and that's their goal.”

Frustrated by what he saw as people profiting from discussions surrounding his son's death, Metcalf added: “You're going to make money off my dead son?”

Without directly attacking Anthony's family, Metcalf suggested that the public draw its own conclusions.

“I don't have to talk about it,” he said. “Their actions will speak loud enough.”

“Everyone can see how they did it,” he added.

Despite the ordeal, Metcalf said he is still very proud of Austin's twin brother Hunter, who testified during the trial.

Recalling the conversation after Hunter left the witness stand, Metcalf said he realized his son had grown into a man.

More than a year after Austin's death, Metcalf said the pain remains worse than anything she's ever experienced.

“Until this time, I thought cancer was the worst thing that ever happened,” he said. “Cancer is like speed. It's nothing.”
