The Dodgers' money line at -137 against the Diamondbacks offers rare value as Justin Wrobleski dominates in 2026.

With the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Finals starting this week, attention has shifted away from the diamond. However, that could mean the bookies open the door to stealing more wins. College basketball, for example, starts when the ball is very bright, so we often have good lines to play. I think I got a fine line here since the Dodgers are playing the Diamondbacks.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are a team that everyone loves to hate. I just don't get it. Why is a team hated for doing everything they can to win the tournament? Baseball is one of the sports that is most often not added through trade or free agency, so everyone is “buying” a championship rather than building one. Even with the 2016 Cubans (who had at least six outstanding homegrown pieces on their roster), the biggest piece in their competition was Jon Lester, who was signed as a free agent. What I mean is, this is mostly jealousy because you are working. The Mets do the same thing, but they're ugly, so nobody cares.

Tonight, the Dodgers sent Justin Wrobleski. He's the guy they called and developed. That development is paying off this season. Wrobleski is 7-2 with a 2.87 ERA and 1.01 WHIP on the year. I bet on him in his last start, and that was a disaster as he went seven innings and allowed one hit, a solo homer. The Diamondbacks hitters did well against him in just 12 at-bats. He has six hits, but just one extra base.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are over .500 and are probably doing better than expected this season. Last year, they sold pieces at a limited time to try to build for future seasons. However, the team is hitting well enough to deal with losing those pieces. Surprisingly, the team is 32-29 on the year and 19-12 at home. They don't do anything when provoked especially well. Arizona is hitting .242 this season, which is 14th in the league. They're 27 in homers but 13 in runs, which isn't great, but it proves they're producing runs rather than just relying on scoring power.

Their pitching staff is also middling at 15th in the league. They currently have a 4.04 ERA as a team. Ryne Nelson, their starter today, is probably one of those guys who needs to make some adjustments to help lower the team's ERA. He is 2-4 on the year with a 4.82 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has been rocked at home this year posting a 5.97 ERA in Arizona. The Dodgers are hitting 19-for-98 against him, so he's at least a decent hitter against them.
Shohei Ohtani is putting up ridiculous numbers against the Diamondbacks as the misery on the mound continues
It may be a long shot, but betting on Shohei Ohtani to have a bad game is actually an option here. Young is 2 for 15 against Nelson with five strikeouts. Max Muncy is even worse, going 0-for-9 with six strikeouts. Andy Pages is 1-for-14 with four strikeouts. Lots of player resource options if you want to fade the Dodgers.

For the actual play in tonight's game, I'll put the Dodgers back on the money line at -137. I don't find Los Angeles at this price very often, but that's not the only reason to bet on it. Wrobleski was good for a small blip before his Phillies started. Nelson has been terrible, even if he has had past success against the Dodgers. You can call the Dodgers to get to Nelson. If he was a better player, I would have hoped for these results, but he is not. Give me the Dodgers.
