Rep. Tim Burchett said during an interview Tuesday that he believes the aliens are there, citing government statements, the pilot's testimony and what he described as video and photos shown by officials.

“We've seen so much. I've seen so much,” Burchett said on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” “Not myself, but when I was briefed by government officials, the video, the pictures. Some of the most highly trained pilots in the world have described near collisions with some type of aircraft or equipment, so I think it's time for them to come clean.”

Burchett said this after host Piers Morgan pressed him directly on whether he believes extraterrestrial life exists.

“Yes, sir, I agree,” said Burchett.

Burchett said his belief was shaped in part by religious interpretation, pointing to biblical passages as possible explanations for advanced technology.

“Genesis 1, the first chapter, 'God created the heavens and the earth.' If you look in the Book of Ezekiel, Ezekiel saw a wheel, and it describes a wheel within a wheel with some kind of stop mechanism.

Morgan expressed skepticism about whether any claims rise to the level of verifiable evidence, as he acknowledged the size of the universe.

“So I think the most difficult question for you is whether you have seen and heard of what we would describe as events, but events that are inexplicable. Have you ever seen the cold, hard, incontrovertible factual evidence in support of extraterrestrial life?” Morgan asked.

Burchett admitted that he had not personally seen the unidentified boats but pointed out that the testimony from soldiers and officials was weighty.

“Did I ever see a craft or something flying over me that was unidentifiable? No, sir, I never personally,” Burchett said. “I have to ask why a pilot, some of the best in the world, would risk their reputation by coming forward and telling me these things.”

Burchett also described a reported incident relayed to him by a former Navy officer involving a large, silent object.

“This ship flew over them and took off without a sound or disturbance around them,” Burchett said. “The explanations they gave were very clear and consistent.”

He described sonar detections of large, fast-moving objects and suggested that the ocean could be a plausible place for unknown phenomena.

“It's five deep. We have a lot of things to see in the air with that,” Burchett said. “An object as large as a football field was tracked on our sonar traveling at over 200 miles per hour.”

“If they see it this way, they're pulled out of line and they're going to get a psychological evaluation,” Burchett said.

He suggested that the federal government was withholding information about the unidentified aerial incidents and criticized what he described as a lack of transparency.

“I feel like this is something that gets pushed back for whatever reason,” Burchett said. “I don't trust our government to issue any of these things.”

Morgan pointed to the potential shock and uncertainty that would follow full disclosure of classified UFO sightings by the government.

“Is the world, is America, is the wider world ready?” Morgan said.

“It's not the government's job to decide what I can and can't do,” Burchett said.
