Norwich City's summer rebuild has been built around adding players who fit Philippe Clement's style, and Balthazar Pierret seems to tick a lot of boxes.

Clement is personally pushing to sign Pierret for Norwich City

According to Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Norwich are pushing hard to bring Pierret to Carrow Road before the start of the new season.

The report claims that Clement is personally involved in the pursuit and is trying to convince Red Star to agree to a deal for the midfielder, who Tavolieri describes as a 'real impact player'.

That level of involvement underlines how highly the Norwich boss rates the Frenchman as he continues to shape his squad for the upcoming campaign.

The influence of management can often be seen as powerful in transmission, but the persuasive Red Star will not be direct.

The French club signed Pierret permanently earlier this year and have little reason to weaken their squad unless the proposal makes financial and sporting sense.

They also know his price could continue to rise if he produces another strong season, while it is believed they will want north of £400,000 to sell him now.

Still, Norwich seem determined. Clement has made it clear that he wants players who can raise the level faster than just adding numbers, and Pierret fits that profile.
