Nico Elvedi made the decision to leave as Gladbach accepted a deal for Leeds now possible

Leeds United are doing everything they can to avoid a serious second-season illness this summer.
They welcomed Harry Wilson, spent big on Tarik Muharemovic and are now looking at Nico Elvedi.
Of course, it should come as no surprise that the latter is back on Daniel Farke's radar. The German has worked with the Borussia Mönchengladbach defender in the past and rumors of a reunion at Elland Road have failed to go away.

Honesty |
After the departure of Struijk, Leeds simply had to strengthen the back wall and did so by signing Muharemovic. But they were already a bit short of using their back three before Struijk's exit which meant that another player had to come. This is where Elvedi could come in, as he already likes to move. |
|
Finance |
Leeds have already spent big once and are unlikely to spend the same amount again on another defender. Elvedi will not be expensive, however. Gladbach has accepted that his exit is inevitable and that should make any deal much easier to negotiate. |
|
Understanding |
Elvedi has worked with Farke before and has played in a back three in Germany. On paper, there is little downside to his potential arrival, especially as a 29-year-old star with experience. |
|
Impact |
The defender's arrival will end Leeds' search for a full-back, with Muharemovic already on the way and the likes of Joe Rodon set to remain. |
In a position to welcome new arrivals, Leeds could finally reunite Farke and Elvedi this summer, completing their new look in the process.
Leeds get a big boost from Nico Elvedi's run
As reported by Football Insider, Leeds are eyeing a move to sign Elvedi this summer and have secured two major promotions.
On the club side, Gladbach accepted that the defender's exit was inevitable, allowing the Whites to enter. Meanwhile, on the defender's side, he is now determined to complete his move to Elland Road.
Leeds could not have asked for better conditions as they look to the 29-year-old, who could join Muharemovic and Rodon to form a back three.

The ball is now in Leeds' court. Whether they ultimately turn long-term interest into a promise remains to be seen, however.
Leeds are closing in on the signing of Shea Charles
And it's no secret that Leeds are interested in signing Shea Charles from Southampton this summer. The Whites have put in bids to sign the midfielder and recent reports say they are close to a deal.
Acquiring Elvedi and then Charles would be a very good business. Farke will have the perfect combination of youthful exuberance and solid experience to turn to as he aims for survival and more next season.
That said, there is still work to be done if the Yorkshire club are to get both deals on the line.
