Mets release Korean pop star with impressive career windup, Wemby plays ball and Rosie

Let's find out the last Monday of July 2026 with a new edition of Monday Screencaps where we cook up some content before the football season breaks. Guys, I'm disappearing for a few days after this column to catch up on some family vacation time before the kids dive into school games and the school year starts in two weeks.

It's that time of year. Now and then it won't be for those last family days off, which means SeanJo will be with you all week.

  • Guys, we only have ourselves to blame if we agree and buy this stupid thing in July. RESIST! I beg you to RESPECT SUMMER for the future of your children, for humanity and everything it holds.
  • To do my part, I spent about eight hours on the porch on Saturday playing sheriff to the 13-year-old boys who came to swim. I can report that this group of boys handled themselves very well. A Saturday without a pool game is a huge victory.
  • On Sunday, I continued to HONOR SUMMER by hitting the links with Millennial Chris B. in Bowling Green, Canoe Kirk and new NW Ohio resident One Leg Bell, who moved here from Florida. I went 40-47. Full integrity. No massaging the golf ball. There is no club length to get a better shot from the bunker. After being given my ass up North on some brutal golf courses, coming home and playing on a flat course feels like a cheat code. By the way, the 7w I bought is another cheat code. I don't know how about 7w until this summer. I love that club. I'm flying about 200 with a 23-degree loft. It's the best money I've spent on golf in years. To me, spending $125 on that club is better than dropping $400 on a driver. Other highlights on the golf course: $2.50 Busch Lights and $10 pitchers at Kona. Not bad!
  • We need to address this travel football video that jumped onto my timeline last night as I prepared this post. There is nothing special about it except a 16U kid bombing the ump, the coach comes to take the episode and the ump says it will be enough and goes home. Game over.

  • What are we doing folks? I look at the parents who continue this stupidity. I just watched the MLB Draft where my high school teammate's son, who was everything in Ohio and then just played a big role on the West Virginia College World Series team, went undrafted. The kid has a cannon right arm. It can hold. It plays pretty left field. He can steal a bag here and there. Hits for power up. It is not written. He played the best tour baseball you can play. He even spent last summer playing in the Major League Draft. No, you are not written. Then, when I see videos of a 16U kid acting like an idiot, I'm reminded of how big a walking cesspool ball is that keeps getting bigger for no reason. Only 12 kids from Ohio were selected in the Draft. I'll say it again, it's time to make Rec Ball Great again.
  • Has anyone figured out why Korean pop music is so hard on Americans? Is there really a market for K-pop artists in the US? Ask your children if they listen to that music. When I ask Screencaps the III about it, he cringes. It's driving him crazy and he's 9 years old. Do young girls really want a new release from Jang Won-young? What am I missing?
  • To be honest, Jang has a helluva windup, I mean, do they teach throwing mechanics in elementary schools in South Korea and Japan? How did these people get here putting our soccer kids to shame?

Imagine going out in public looking like this. And should we listen to what this woman has to say about America from her living room in Ireland?

– Jeff E. emails: If you could take all the football I watched in my life and compare it to it FIFA in the US it's not even close. Maybe you watched four or five games – even some that weren't USMT. Here are three top and bottom football rankings:

At the top

-Devotion of fans to their team

-Ability to run on foot

-The reaction of the tourist in the US

Down

-Red Card (usually more than instructions – someone has to tell them how hockey is done)

-Timekeeping (overtime, lack of accuracy, lack of communication with observers)

-Paleness, the worst thing about football (many had taken a LeBron James master class)

– Marty in Idaho always posts cool content: Some students have squirrel problems in their backyards. I get that squirrels can be annoying but let's add some perspective. In late June a deer died in the tall grass in my back yard from an antler injury. There wasn't much I could do so I just put the game cam on it to see what happened. The mountain lions (mother and three cubs) found it within an hour and spent about the next two nights feeding on it. If you watch the video, our house is about 75 yards to the left. I informed the neighbors so that no one would go out and roam around in the moonlight.

– Loyal reader Ricky A. spends his summer in Japan:

– Robert R. on how to get to Wisconsin while avoiding Chicago: I lived in FL for 35 years and moved to TN in 2019. I'm coming WI for starters, the oldest lives near green bay and since 1997 i've been making a trip to visit at least once a year. I solved the Chicago problem about 10 years ago. Now I'm leaving 57 and heading west to Bloomington about 40 miles before Chicago, using I 72.

From Bloomington head north to Rockford and from Janesville you can take the 43 to Milwaukee or go to Madison and use the 51 north to Fond du Lac. Adds about an hour or so though: little traffic, only 1 toll (at Rockford) for about $2. I hate going through Chicago, my daughter in law used to call and ask where I was and my answer was always “the 7th ring of Hell”.

– John in Milford, MI advised me to start smoking: It will require commitment on your part, but I have a solution to your neighbor's smoke problem that I guarantee will work. I smoked way back when I was younger, and I can tell you that the urge to go out and pick up a box of Winstons never ends. I still find the smell of cigarette smoke interesting. All you need to do is start smoking yourself, smoke a pack a day for a few years, and stop smoking. I promise you'll be craving your neighbor's breather and smoke after that. Problem solved.

– Jim in East Peoria, IL has a simple solution: BEWARE OF THE VEGETABLES!!! Yeah yeah!!! Dumbass, I should have thought of that. And a real loud and big and annoying if-king would be on the show methinks.

Also, those Miami girls will definitely give the Dallas team a run for their money!!!

Kinsey: I had my leaf blower next to me on the porch Saturday afternoon. I'll have to try this next time the neighbor lights up some cigs.

This went down over the weekend in Madison, WI. A very simple solution. Pepper spray water rivals. Clear the entire area. If they want to come back. They exploded again. Clear the way for red-blooded Americans who want to sip beer or whiskey on a Saturday night while maybe chasing some skirts.
