Ethan Hawke he opens up about his daughter Maya HawkeA surprise Valentine's Day wedding to a singer-songwriter Christian Lee Hutson.
“That was a lot of fun,” Ethan, 55, said Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, April 23, at the Time 100 Gala in New York City.
“What makes it, you know, walking your daughter down the aisle. … I've had a lot of emotions in my life, and that's something I don't have words for how it feels,” the actor said. “I have no vocabulary for that. I felt like I was meeting 13 for the first time, you know?”
Ethan continued to praise Maya's new husband.
“The man she married is a wonderful, Christian guy, so I'm a lucky person,” Ethan said.
Ethan is Stranger Things actress Maya, 27, and son Levon24, and ex-wife If Thurman. He shares daughters Clementine, 17, and Indiana, 14, with his current wife, Ryan Shawhughes.
Maya and Christian, 35, got married in a surprise ceremony in New York City on February 14 that was attended by Maya's parents and her. Stranger Things costars, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer again Joe Keery.
In March, Maya spoke to her couple for the first time during the premiere of her film Wishful thinkingcalling married life “really fun.”
“I am a very lucky person who is very happy right now,” said Maya People at that time. “And yes, [I] I couldn't be more grateful.”
“I feel lucky to have found my best friend and to have someone I can tell anything to,” said the actor. Page Six. “It makes something like marriage feel like, 'Yeah,' you know, not like, 'What?' And I'm very lucky, really, so I'm very happy.”
Maya told the newspaper that she is “very happy” following her marriage. “I mean … love is the best,” she said.
Maya and Christian were first linked in 2023 and seem to be keeping their marriage under wraps until their wedding day.
“I can't recommend enough that you fall in love with your friends. It's so much better,” Maya said of finding love with her partner in 2024. The Zach Sang Show. “They know you, and as someone who has been in a relationship with other people. They really know you as a person with feelings … not just a piece of paper to portray their image of him. [the] the perfect girlfriend. It's so much better to feel recognized that way.”
