The caller will testify before the Senate about the cover-up of the origin of COVID-19.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hear testimony on long-declassified CIA work Wednesday on allegations that there was a cover-up of the origin of the virus with deep roots in the federal government and the intelligence community.

It is part of Sen.'s battle. Rand Paul's, R-Ky., against the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Dr. Anthony Fauci and his role in investigating the origins of COVID-19, his response to the virus and subsequent actions taken by the federal government during the pandemic.

Wednesday's hearing comes after a deadline for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to charge Fauci with allegedly lying to Congress about career-benefiting research – controversial research that could increase the virus's infectivity and malignancy by altering its genetic code – in relation to COVID-19.

The statute of limitations for taking action against Fauci in that matter expired on Monday.

“The DOJ may never act, but the American people know the truth: Fauci misled and defrauded this country,” Paul told X. “I will not stop exposing the truth about the massive cover-up of COVID. That is why I will have a caller testify before my committee this Wednesday.”

Fauci strongly denied allegations that he lied about the role of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in funding research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, and said that the research does not meet the standard of research that benefits performance.

But Fauci's longtime adviser, David Morens, who was a top adviser at NIAID, was indicted by the DOJ last month and accused of using his email account to hide communications related to a controversial coronavirus research grant that involved collaboration with the Wuhan Institute.

Wednesday's hearing will delve into the experience of a longtime CIA employee, who Paul told the New York Post will investigate an ongoing “deep state” conspiracy to cover up the origin of the virus.

Paul told the newspaper that the whistleblower was assigned to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), where he worked with a team studying how the epidemic started in Wuhan.

“For years, the American people were told to stop asking questions about the origins of COVID,” Paul told X. “Today, a whistleblower will testify that intelligence officials may have buried evidence, changed conclusions and concealed the truth from the public.”
