The House Judiciary Committee is planning a hearing in May to question ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones about allegations of security breaches in the Democratic Party, which the committee says could have allowed illegal foreign donations to flow to candidates.
The invitation comes after the House of Representatives, Judiciary and Homeland Security committees released a staff report on their ongoing investigation into ActBlue on Monday. A recent report revealed that ActBlue's five fraud prevention and enforcement staff invoked the fifth 146 times when filing with committees. There have been a number of resignations of law enforcement and law enforcement personnel after the 2024 election.
The New York Times also reported this month that ActBlue may have provided false information to the Committee on Governance in a 2023 letter about its security practices, citing a 2025 memo its lawyers wrote to the organization's leadership.

“ActBlue's chief executive needs to come clean, give the information to Congress that we've asked for,” said House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis., in an interview with FOX Business. “We know they had a massive exodus of workers following the 2024 election with President Trump coming into office. We know ActBlue doesn't have all the security measures it should have. And I think it's all of our responsibility to get to the bottom of this and find the right answer.”
In a letter to Wallace-Jones inviting him to testify, Steil wrote, “Based on recent reports, it appears that ActBlue's production of the July 2025 committee subpoena was intentionally incomplete.” He went on to say that there are “so many questions” about whether ActBlue has sufficiently strengthened its fraud protection.

The House Governance Committee has been investigating ActBlue since 2023, initially investigating the platform's failure to use a credit card verification value (CVV) when accepting donations. However, this is the first time that its CEO has been invited to testify before Congress. A subpoena from the committee is not mandatory, but if Wallace-Jones refuses to appear, it may lead the committee to subpoena him in the future.
Currently, a hearing with Wallace-Jones is scheduled for May 19 at 10 am
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, expressed concern about the New York Times report in an interview with Liz Macdonald on “Evening Edit” on Monday.

“Their lawyer says, 'Well, that answer you gave, Miss Wallace-Jones, back in '23, it seems like you weren't clear. You were dishonest and you may have misrepresented the facts,'” Jordan said. “That's a fancy way of saying you lied. And again, we didn't say that. Their lawyer at Covington & Burling said… If you see all this smoke, there's probably a fire.”
