Alabama High School Teacher Faces 30-Plus Child Sex Charges

An Alabama high school teacher and girls basketball coach is facing multiple criminal charges less than a month after he resigned amid an investigation into sexual harassment allegations.

A grand jury on Tuesday, April 21, returned an indictment Paige Parker Adamscharging a married teacher with more than 30 sexual offenses.

Adams, 35, resigned in late March after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced.

Adams, who worked for Cold Springs High School, is now charged with one count of engaging in a sexual act or sexual intercourse with a student and sexual contact with a student under the age of 19, and 30 counts of distributing obscene material to a student.

His departure comes after leading the Cold Springs Eagles girls basketball team to a state championship.

He only coached one season, school officials confirmed.

According to reports, Adams was married at the time of his resignation. her husband, Drew Adamshe coaches the boys' basketball team at school.

Shortly after her resignation, Drew filed for divorce and is now seeking full custody of their son.

The divorce comes after 15 years of marriage.

Paige was released from jail after posting a $225,000 bond. As a condition of his release, he must wear an electronic monitoring device.

Police have not released the age or gender of the suspect.

“This is the first formal complaint I have received regarding this employee,” read a statement from Cullman County Board of Education Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnett He was sent home to his parents last month. “Immediately after the concern was raised, an investigation was immediately initiated. After the resignation, Barnette said, standard procedures were followed to ensure that Adams no longer had access to school property.

Barnette said the school system's top priority remains student safety.

“Our only focus is protecting the students of Cullman County Schools, and then our staff,” he said.
