For sci-fi fans, there is something strange about time travel movies: after watching enough of them, you can feel stuck in your own time because all the movies feel almost the same. That's why it's always special to find a movie that feels fresh and original, and if you've been looking for a time travel movie that feels completely fake, you're in luck. Aporia is now streaming on Hulu, and its fresh take on someone turning back the clock is one that will keep you entertained from start to finish.
The passage of time, as usual, produces mixed results

What Aporia about, exactly? Without giving too many twists and turns, this is a film about a woman grieving the death of her husband. He's killed by a drunk driver, but through the magic of time travel, he has a chance to save his life—a good intention that, as you might expect, has unintended consequences for him and many others.
What makes Aporia's take on the past feel so fresh, though? Unlike other science fiction films where the characters try to change the past, the grieving widow cannot transport herself back to the past years. Instead, you have the opportunity to send a subatomic particle back to a certain point in time, and if that particle were to appear inside the person, they would die instantly.

For all intents and purposes, this gives her the chance to send a sci-fi bullet into the past and kill the man who killed her husband before getting behind the wheel drunk. That does it automatically Aporia it's much darker than your average time travel movie, but by the time he's ready to pull the plug, it's hard not to sympathize with his actions. When we realize that the drunk driver is unrepentant and faces no serious legal consequences for his fatally reckless actions, it is clear that exoneration may be the closest the widow gets to justice.
A Familiar Face to Sci-Fi Fans

We keep comparing Aporia in other sci-fi movies, and if you are a fan of this genre, you will definitely like the characters. The Widow is played by Judy Greer, a person known for appearing in sci-fi blockbusters such as Ant-Man, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (voice only), and many more. The dead husband she hopes to save is played by Edi Gathegi, famous for appearing in the deadly sci-fi show To All Humanityplaying the mutant Darwin in X-Men: First Classand, most recently, Mister Terrific at James Gunn's Supermanthe movie that introduced the new DCU.

In case you were wondering, we weren't the only ones who fell in love right away Aporia. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a critical rating of 91 percent, a very impressive score considering how often critics can't wrap their minds around science fiction. In this case, critics especially recommend Aporia effortlessly combining its strong sci-fi premise with understandable human motivations and heart-wrenching performance.

Once you've experienced it Aporiathe only downside is that you'll wish you could go back in time and watch it all over again for the first time. It's currently available to stream on Hulu, and we're sure that once you stream it, this movie will blow your mind. If that's not possible, however, we'll need you to promise not to hit us with subatomic particles. We'd like at least enough time to recommend it to someone else first.
