New information about the director Sam Raimi' divorce from wife Gillian Greene were revealed two years after his application was first filed.
Greene, 58, filed for divorce from Raimi, 66, in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences, without specifying a date for the separation. He also asked for spousal support and for the filmmaker to pay his attorneys' fees, further asking the court to end Raimi's ability to award himself alimony.
About two years later, the Spider Man director responded to Greene's request in court documents obtained by Us Weekly. He said the two, who married in September 1993, separated in April 2016, about eight years before Greene's installation.
In his decision on Wednesday, July 15, Raimi asked the court for a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. In contrast to Greene's request for alimony, Raimi requested that both parties be able to receive spousal support.
Raimi went on to say that the “full nature and extent” of the pair's separate and public assets is currently unknown.
Raimi is a famous film director, who has helped people like Happy Valley Kid, Crime Wave, Love Game, The Gift, Dark, Army of Darkness, Oz the Great and Powerful as well as Tobey Maguire– lead Spider Man franchise. Raimi later directed Marvel's Doctor Strange in Various Madnessess in 2022, it sparked rumors that he will direct again in 2026 Spider-Man: A New Day.
“Well, I haven't heard about that. I've read about that, but I haven't worked on it yet,” Raimi said. Comic Book Resources in 2024 when asked about the projections. “I mean, Marvel and Columbia are very successful right now Spider Man [movies]and the song on there, and I don't know if they're going to come back to me and say, 'Well, guys, we can tell that story too!'”
