Jimmy Kimmel Has Fun In Mitch McConnell's Hospital Photo

A few hours later Senator Mitch McConnell released a picture of him smiling in a hospital bed, Jimmy Kimmel shared his funny life testimony.

“For those who have been asking, I feel good,” Kimmel said, citing an edited version of McConnell's original photo, which showed the late-night TV host replacing the 84-year-old politician.

The first photo of McConnell, shared on Facebook on Sunday, July 12, came nearly a month after the senator was mysteriously hospitalized, sparking speculation about his health.

The photo shared by Kimmel, 58, also came about a month after he left as host Jimmy Kimmel Live! during a voluntary leave of two months. This extended vacation has raised the eyebrows of some social media users as it was announced less than one year after his show was suspended for five days. For an update on McConnell, the senator shared a statement about his life alongside the first photo on Sunday. “My doctors have confirmed that I did not have broken bones or a serious stroke. I did not have a heart attack or stroke. I have no abscesses or bleeding,” read a statement written in his office. “But I fainted for a while and was taken to the hospital.” Although I have been receiving excellent care for the past few weeks, I have had to deal with a small bout of pneumonia.”

He continued, “In fact, since there are signs that progress is continuing, I was able to move from the hospital to a rehabilitation center where I will continue to regain my strength.”

McConnell was hospitalized after being found unconscious at his home, sparking online conspiracy theories and calls for a public disclosure after his team did not officially explain his health at the time.

McConnell's office released his opinion in a statement Us Weekly on July 7. “Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he is receiving as he continues to recover in the hospital,” the statement read. “The senator continues to improve, and he works closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate issues while the Senate is not in session.”

McConnell's Sunday health update came after his fellow senator Lindsey GrahamHe died at the age of 71 on Saturday, July 11. The initial cause of death was found to be “aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.”

According to the Cleveland Clinican aortic dissection is a “tear in the inner layer of the weak part of your aorta” that is considered life-threatening given the role of the artery in delivering oxygenated blood to the body.
