Kristin Cavallari he talked about his altercation with his father, Dennis Cavallariin his 20s.
Kristin, 39, opened up about her finances early in her career during an interview with the founder of Good American. Emma Grade during an episode of his “Aspire” podcast. During the episode, Grede, 43, asked her how she ended up with a bank account bigger than a 20-year-old's, which Kristin quickly corrected, telling her that she loaned her estranged father a lot of money.
“I loaned my dad money — I mean, hundreds of thousands of dollars in my early 20s that I'll never see,” he said. “It's okay? I don't know what it is. I've been through it and I finally put it to sleep and made peace with it.”
The Hills alum continued, “As a parent now, I don't think I ask my kids for money — especially that money and put it on them. I guess at the time I didn't know how to say no to my dad.” He went on to say that establishing a border with his father is “a big lesson in life” for him. “Finally I let my father out of my life so I found out how to say no to him. It was really hard for me when I was young.”
This is not the first time that Kristin has gone public about her relationship with her father. In June 2025, she opened up about cutting ties with her father after she “crossed the line” with her three children, Camden, 13, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 10, with her ex-husband. Jay Cutler.
“I mean, honestly, and this may sound strange to some people, but it's the best decision I've ever made, to separate my father from my life,” he said. “Such a weight has been lifted from me.”
She added, “There is not a single day that I miss him. … He crossed the border with my children [and] I couldn't even apologize.”
Kristin continued, “If someone doesn't bring you joy, if people only bring you pain, sadness and anger, what's the point? Even if it's a parent, life is too short.”

June 2025, Kristin told Harry Jowsey in an episode of her “Boyfriend Material” podcast that she hasn't spoken to Dennis in “three years.”
“I always had a bad relationship with my father,” she explained, noting that he “abused” his children.
She added, “As a mother, if I had a child and I was really happy with my child and they wanted to cut me out of their life, I would do everything I could think of to not let that happen. I would be like, 'I'm so sorry.' Coming out of your house, doing everything you can think of and being a dad in many ways was like, 'OK.' As if he hasn't tried yet.”
